Substituting a quart of Risoline or ATF has worked for me in the past. Lifter noise almost always will come back when the oil reaches 3000 miles, though. I think I had better luck with ATF, to be honest.
After 3000 miles your oil breaks down and needs to be replaced anyway.

Risoline engine conditioner and cleaner has worked amazingly after 3 starts for my son's car. The lifters would normally quiet down after the car warmed up but now it starts quiet. Lifter smoke is also gone.

Like someone said before, lifter tick usually means its time to change the oil.

Lucas is good
Prolong is good.
Motor flush did not seem too make a difference,

Bypass fuel voltage adjuster, run it at hig voltage even at idle
Hot wire fuel pump made a major difference..

People use to tell be it was time to rebuild engine when my fuel pump wires was going out in 2007....high volume slapping sound, then I hot wire fuel pump and 12 years later no problem with the slap-tick-knock sound...

I bought thee car in 2000 December and the car was ticking when we bought it, I remember my dad said the tick was something that could be adjusted on a valve adjustment, no sweat....19 years later still on same engine, no problem and no valve adjustment, just lived with the tick in the early years, it was usually unbearable during cold starts in winter, but it has disappear in the last decade.....hot wire fuel pump shut them ticks up.

Lucas to stop the high-heat damage
Prolong to stop the cold start damage/....

Also avoid long period of idle.....it make them tick

holy thread bump!

how does a hotwired fuel pump fix lifter tick?
