Proper way to flush oil cooler?

So Turbos go on next week, and this is the last thing I need to do to prep for it.

I got this stock oil cooler used as a package deal with some other TT stuff. It looks to be in very good shape, and as far as I know came from a wrecked car that ran fine.


However I'd rather be safe then sorry, so does anyone have any suggestions on the most effect way to flush out a oil filter??

I was thinking maybe spraying/filling the inside with parts cleaner, and then using a air gun to try and blow it all out, then maybe fill it with fresh oil.

That is about all I know of. Then you follow it up with air. Then maybe run some oil through it. Run it into a fine strainer and make sure no significant debris comes out.

Flush it out with petrol to clean then dry it then put some oil through it..

Just flushed my cooler on a whim, started thinking about how important it is to get new turbo oil lines after spinning a bearing, but hardly anyone mentions the oil cooler. I blew it out with air first. A bunch of greenish oil/fuel/coolant stuff came out. I then pumped clean oil into the oil cooler and blew that out with air about 3x until it was clear.

My method isn't for everyone, as everyone doesn't have a solvent parts washer. I hook the brush hose directly to the cooler and let it flush for a considerable amount of time. I also reverse the flow several times, and tap the entire surface with a large plastic screwdriver handle do break loose any debris. I follow up by blowing it out with air.
