WAY less then 450 LBS, they are maybe 120 LBS. I've never had luck pulling a trans with a tranny jack unless the cars on a lift. I just lay under the trans and lay it on my chest then crawl out from under the car. Done it well over 10 times and has worked the best for me.

So it is easy to pull the tranny out without a transmission jack?

Haha no I'm just saying how I do it since I don't have a lift and have to do everything on jack stands. When I first tried using a transmission jack the problem was with the trans on the jack you cant pull the trans and jack from under the car(the jacks cant go high enough). So now I just lay under the car with a buddy up top. When I'm ready we both pull the trans towards the passenger side wheel well and slowly drop it on my chest. I then roll it off my chest onto the ground and pull it out from under the car.

Do the same thing in reverse to put it in. slide it under the car, have a buddy help you roll the trans onto your chest, then bench press it in. If you're outa shape or have a large beer belly this may not work though. Its also a LOT harder with a TT trans. They are much heavier and larger.

However you do it good luck, If you try it the way I do it keep your head away from any falling transmissions... haha

 

Yeah sounds like I am going to try that with a friend tomorrow.

I have to get to my clutch, I don't know what the problem is, the car wont go in gear or nothing... I get no response.... Ever since I raced someone and went 100 MPH the car wont move lol.

 

Do you still have clutch pressure? You may want to look into adjusting the clutch peddle first. Its possible you bent a fork or broke a fork in the transmission. When that happens though you can usually get into like 3 and 4 and not 1 and 2 something like that. I'm not 100% sure but I'm betting nothing is wrong with your clutch.

Like I said I'm sure its a clutch peddle issue or something internal in the trans.

I purchased one the place I bought it from said they could ship it UPS because it was just under the 100lb limit.

 

Can't get into any gear, I tried to put it in all the gears and it wont go anywhere.

I drop the clutch by lifting my foot off real fast and it does nothing as well.

 

Check your clutch fluid, make sure there is some in the reservoir. Check to make sure there are no leaks in the hydraulic system. You could have a bad master or slave cylinder.

 

When I've had to replace transmissions on my NA I just invite my friend Dan over, he's not like a weight lifter but he's stronger than my scrawny ass. Its usualy pretty easy for him to just bench press the trans off the car and lay it on his chest and roll it off. It really doesn't weigh THAT much at all, the TT trans is another story though.

If your replacing your trans I could have it done in 2.5 hours, clutch job you could have done in like 3 - 3.5 hours

 

I did all my transmissions without a Trans Jack. Even my AWD one. and I'm 6' 180lbs!!!

What I do is run a 4x4 across the engine bay fender-fender and use ratchet straps to lift it into place. I have threaded rods about 8" long that I thread into the block where the trans bolts in. Slide the trans onto the rods and it will slide right into place.

 

I don't see a lower ball joint, the lower control arm is disconnected, the only thing holding the strut in place basically is the tie rod end... Is that what I have to remove?

 

if the control arm is unbolted from the body you are all set. Some people like to make the job more difficult by unbolting struts and ball joints.

A simple floor jack is enough to lower it from the engine after sliding it off the clutch.

I can do the "bench press" on a honda trans but the GT is a bit heavier.

i just replaced my clutch in my car and i took out the trans by myself. its really not bad. i was actually really surprised with how little it weighed compared to what i thought it would

 

it’s crazy how since 2011 no one actually answered the question… I guess I’ll have to do it🤦‍♂️ The transmission weighs 145 pounds
