Amazing pictures mates! I'm up here on the Central Coast and would love to make it to a future gathering. I'm in the midst of bringing a '92 VR4 back to the street. I'd love to hear from someone from this group that has passed CA smog checks with their vehicles. My (current) approach is to put all the stock induction and emissions parts back on my TT for smog testing purposes and then pull it all off and box it up, rinse and repeat every two years. Any insight or advice on getting your amazing cars past smog to get legally registered would be greatly appreciated. If you want you can DM me directly and we can take it off-line for the sake of discretion...

1G (OBD-I) is the absolute easiest to pass legally... that is/was my bragging right before lol ('91 and '92) and I still help others legally pass CA, AZ, and others' tests. Visual and functional are self-explanatory. Mix 2gal of Pump-E85 to a full tank of Piss-91 for the two-speed "idle" section. Drive the shit out of the car OTW to testing location to heat up the main catalytic converter, and leave the car running upon arrival. Walk in the park...

Registering out of state is a catch 22, and I never advise that for people that actually reside in-state. If you get spotted enough especially with repeat traffic stop(s), it will be stupidly easy to connect the dots. Nobody wants to talk about the consequences of getting assed out for pursuing that route.

Hey bboyalan - Thank you for your reply~! This is the path I am currently on. I installed our new R'venge transmission, transfer, and rebuilt engine over the winter. I'm now working on all the electrical and vacuum tubing. I've cobbled all the stock piping and other emission parts off of e-bay and she is starting to look like a fully functioning stock VR4! After she is finally smogged and registered we will re-install some of the performance parts we removed. The plan is to be driving her at our weekly Friday night cruises this spring!~ Can't wait, she's been off the road for a few years!

Just some coverage from this past weekend on a beautiful Sunday! Small fraction from the much larger meets and gatherings that I used to host a decade ago, but this 100% retained the same good vibes and energy. All of the kiddos had fun, Rocket the Corgi soaked up the attention, and all of my neighbors enjoyed the sights and food too...

Great pictures! Those indicate everyone had a great time. I’m hoping we will have a TX3s Gathering in Dallas , Texas, possibly November 7th, 8th & 9th, 2025. We should have more information on this in the near future .

 

Thanks haha but let us keep it real... TXG is a shadow of its former self and has not been relevant or worthwhile since maybe 2014-2015. Granted, the only one I attended was 2012 with @DuTTch Mark, but that was well planned by the OG TX3S guys. IF this year's lackluster "planning" follows through, it is unlikely to be in Dallas... you can guess where lol
