is the 3000gt engine designed by chrysler?
I think that the only things on the 3/S designed by Chrysler are the sail panels, side skirts and bumpers of the Stealth. Oh yeah, the RT tail lights and banana spoiler as well. Possibly, the Stealth wheels too. Apart from that, it's all Mitsu...

Chrysler and Mitsubishi developed a joint effort in the 80's. Cars like Colt and Arrrow and the smog creating 1.6L minivan engine were all Misubishi. Look at the 3.0L Mitsubishi engoine and then look at something in like a Concorde or a Sebring and you'll know our engines were NOT designed by Chrysler.

I was also told/read that they pursued the 3000gt/Stealth project also because of the success of the Lebaron with chrysler/mitsu parts. either motor was supposed to be very good. they were completely co-op on that vehicle. It was the success of Lee Iacocca and mitsu chair man to be together to help each other out.
So as a medal of honor or reward. They committed to build a more powerful performance car, more powerful then then the lazer/starion/corvette/camaro/mustangs w/e . So in America it was saying we are back with performance cars! and for Mitsu they compete with the Skyline.
I've also seen a special car that was for Lee Iacocca and sold.
It was a 91-93 Stealth R/T Twin Turbo Red or Marroon and had chrome stealth fan wheels with black pentastar shape dodge logo covers.
and yes Viper mirrors are like identical. I had viper guy park purposely next to me cause he said the stealth was his first choice.
So then the Stealth Tt was suppose be pace car but then they substituted it at the last min cause UAW complaining.
And makes no sense cause all our cars are built a little bit everywhere..
If u drive a camaro.. they pretty much allll built in Canada.. So who cares..
