Apologies, I'm late on this reply....

CK, I also said I went somewhere else and their business ethics were more to my taste. All said and done, they came to the same conclusion without charging me for it. On the flipside if I showed up with a fried engine and asked to have you check it out, yeah I'd expect a diagnosis fee. Once I found out it was the ECU for sure, I got one from a good guy, and installed it myself.

There is a difference between charging for a major, time consuming, labor intensive diagnosis, and what I experienced when I came to you. What you did is called nickle and diming the customer, and even though its common practice with some shops, I'm betting more owners would go to shops that are willing to compete by not following that trend. I understand why long standing honest shops have so much friggin business, its because they build rapport where they can, I'm not saying its wise to always give out free bees, you'll never prosper that way. No drama intended just wanted to give an answer to your last post.
