Hi all, its been a long time coming but I finally (after 8 months of planning and all) have completed my two-seater conversion and added some new features to my car that I think u all would enjoy seeing ;)

1) Two-seater Conversion. Custom made by me to fit the way I wanted it to. Hugs all the corners and has just that right amount of slant!

2) Inside the conversion I have. KenWood 600W 2-channel Amp. Jensen 600W 4-channel Amp. Shuttle Mini-computer (Celeron 1.2GHz, 256 RAM, Philips Sound Card, 80 gig HD.

3) 7" LCD Screen WITH custom touch screen overlay:D

4) PC Relay Board (Hooks up to the printer port to control) turns on neons, fog lights, subs, etc etc.

5) Custom programmed Visual Basic program to play my MP3's, GPS and DVD player.;)

6) 12" GS Redlines D class subs. *These things hit sooooo freakin hard!!!!*

7) Knight-rider wing Mod.

Coming soon**
1) My initials between the passenger/drive side seats (on the two-seater slant) with colored LEDs.
2) VU-meter with “R/T Bumpin’” in LEDs.

I may make a web site to display more of this and maybe a how-to to do it cuz it took me a very long time to make mine cuz its an original though in - though out :p Still trying to get the bugs out of the sound system. Gotta love the whine noise… But I am close in correcting this issue.

Here are some pics: (UPDATED!)
I have sence made some upgrades to my car project. Changed the inverter to the Opus DC-DC power supply and in the process of updating the VB program that runs the music and switches.

SM-4,
I had to solder the board together. VERY VERY easy. Had plenty of room to work with. Its a great product! and yes, very cool indeed.

I will have the finished product in a few days. "hopfully" i will be able to take a better quality video of it all working and stuff. If your wondering about how much all this cost.. here goes:

12" GS Redline Subs = $300.00
Shuttle Computer w/ everything inside = $400.00
7" LCD screen = $145.00
Touch Screen overlay (USB) = $180.00
KenWood Amp & Jensen Amp = $380.00
Relay board = $ 35.00
two-seater stuff w/leather = $ 80.00
Knight-rider Wing Mod = $ 20.00
...and its still going on.....

check

just wondering what kind of board you used for your 2-seater conversion? Where did you get it?

Looks great, im probably going to end up doing something like that in the future..

Hey...if you dont mind, could you give me the specs on the board right behind the two seats? I measured but i think i measured badly. also...did you just plug those 6x9 speakers right in? or did you make little boxes for those? thanks!

What's the deal with the computer crap.

For the money you spent on that computer, you could have a brand new fold-out DVD player that looks better, performs better, and has a warranty.

I give you an A+ on effort, though.

he has a hard drive now. he can play any format of music. he can network to his house to get online or get gigs of songs onto his car computer. basically....hard drive. network. touch screen. nuf said.

Very nice system. I thought about doing something similar but I gave up the idea since I don't spend that much time in the car anymore (work used to be 1hour away from home. now it's more like 10 min).

When you drive, just remember to look at the road sometimes. ;)

I guess some people just don't take everything into consideration. Think about the endless opportunites his setup provides... then take your comment back. How do you figure it would perform better? Do you have any idea what kind of dvd player he has? Maybe his computer has a warranty.... Maybe his dvd player is a super-duper dvd player and there's nothing better than it. Maybe you should keep comments like that to yourself....

"What's the deal with that computer crap"... i could go on.

Hey all and thanks for the great replys!!

VR-4Maniac, otofmyway6:
The two seater is made up of hardboad 4x8, quater inch thick. (LOWES) VERY sturdy when cut out to match. Although i did not write down the messurements of the two-seater, i could mesure it now (with the leather on it) and u can take a half inch off all sides to acomodate the leather. Should come out close to what i have if i didnt have the leather on it. The trick i found that works well in mesuring the sides (around the window and such) is to get a peice of aluminum foil and mold it using your hands to etch the sides, then place the foil on the board and trace it.

The 6x9's are just placed in there. I cut out the holes after placing the leather on it. No boxes are used to house them from behind. They sound really good for being right behind the passenger/driver seats.

The knight-rider wing mod is an original (me!). I used a product called Varad LED Scanner. Look at it here . I have some pics of the backing of what it looks like with it all connected up inside the housing of the light. I had to use a drimal to get the light bar thats in it out. I used a total of 48 red water clear LEDs. I will draw up how to do that and post it on here for you in a few days.:D

If i could fly u to my house to let u see this in person, you MAY change your mind about it all. Lots of blood, sweet and tears went into this project(s) manly because they have never been done before. Sure, its not perfect by any means but it looks good and a nice eye candy to boot. But thanks for giving me a A+ on effort, that was the only thing saving u from me chewing u out.;)

I will try to draw everything up and have my final pics somtime next week (i have exams this week.....) just stay tuned!

Awesome looking job man. Totally pimp!!!!!!!!

I just thought of somthing though. The computer looks like it sits under the speakers right? Then it is enclosed by your two seater mod with the boards that the speakers are in. My question is...Do you think that those big ass subwoofer magnets will harm your computer? Is there a way to protect it? Don't know what made me think of it. Just thought I'd ask. Stil Sweet ass work man!! You kicked ass in there:D

Did you keep the inverter to power the PC?

How easy is it for you to get into the computer to upload songs? I hope you put an external drive or ethernet or something.

It would be awesome to put in an 802.11b card in there. :)

Looks like the subs are in a different box. ?

Yeah the only thing I'm worried about with that setup is having that computer bolted down to a sports car suspension and having those huge subwoofers hit right next to it. The problem is the regular PC hardrive, I don't know how long it will hold up to that abuse and if the data integrity will be good when its being written to during these vibrations. A laptop hardrive is a little better designed for that kind of thing. The magnets on the subwoofer would also be a problem if they are really close to the computer, but Its probably ok in your setup.

Can you get some better pics of how your screen is mounted? Does the screen use a VGA moniter connector or an AV cable? I've heard that the regular AV cable ones look like crap when you connect them to a video card with TV-out. If I did a setup like this I'd have to use a VGA touch screen and it would have to be mounted so it looks factory.

OK....I just watched the video...

You are going to have to send me that VB Prog. And maybe the source code? :)

randy_tho@yahoo.com

Man....I just don't have the money or time to spend on this kinda stuff. Arrgg.. :)

I'd love to have a similar setup except use solid state for the PC storage or maybe put a drive outside away from everything.

btw....where in TN are you?

Ah, lots of questions... with lots of answers!

TWIN_GLOCKZ
I also thought about that as well. (Magnets). But all seems fine with the computer right now. each speaker is about 20+ inches away from the hard drive. With the subs, its about 15, but the thick wood helps to protect it. No prob. yet from it (knocks on wood)

BaseModel
The bass from the subs i have are EXTREME! but playing an MP3 song with it very loud with the subs havent produced any skips at all. Even going down the road playing songs and hitting the many pot holes we have down here doesnt even skip it. The shuttle is a very good case design.

randy_tho
Yes, i have a 175 Watt (constant) and 300Watt MAX powering the comptuer and LCD screen. The Shuttle comes with an onboard ethernet plug. i have 3 screws connecting the back of the top two-seater to the sub box. Undoing those 3 screws lets me take out the sub box completly. (or in my case, move it all the way up and just plug the ethernet cable in). Yes, i could have drilled a ethernet plug on the outside of the two-seater somwhere, but didnt want to bother with that getting damaged or having somthing spilt on it cuz u never know, right?

TajMan
Like i said, no worries as of yet from the subs hitting. It also helps though in a way. I ported the box on the back so that the air (which is a hell of a lot) pushes though from the subs, it blows on everything inside the two-seater. (amps, converter and computer) so it keeps cool.

randy_tho (again)
I will share the source code for my program. It took me a long time to get everything working with Winamp 2.X.. its not perfect but if u know a little VB, you should be able to understand how it all works. The program have over 3,000 lines of code!!!! to any programer, thats a heck of a lot just for a program that turns on/off things and plays music. Dont want anyone having to go though all the trouble of making a program to do this as i had to do, that realllllly sucks! I live in Hixson, TN... i dont like Hixson, it sucks. I like Ooltewah betta!

ewfoundglory
I sent u an email today, but bellsouth didnt want to send it when i wanted to send it. So i sent it off tonight when i got home, sorry about that.
