The SDS (Supercharger Drive System) is finally complete and can be sold as a Tuners Package to anyone interested in supplying their own fuel delivery components and engine management system. Now there is a SAFE, COST EFFECTIVE and POWERFUL F.I. option for the 3SI community as opposed to the current options of doing a TT swap or Custom turbo. At the current moment RIPP offers F.I. options for the SOHC and DOHC N/A 3000GT and Stealth.

No modifications are needed. The kit comes in a box and the SDS is completely bolt on. The only pre-requisite is a set of aftermarket headers that will allow the engine to flow enough CFM. The kit comes with a 1 year warranty. Visit www.rippmods.com for details on our supercharging systems.

no link for a 3000GT DOHC on your site as far as I can see...

That is correct...We sell all kits as "Tuners Packages" as well because many people already have upgraded fuel delivery components and engine management systems in their cars. Also, its a chance to customize your project to fit how ever many PSI your engine is capable of handling.

well, the SOHC kit made 100 FWHP, on an ATX (they claimed a MTX would make a bit more... think it was 20 or so ? - could be wrong ) so i can just imagine you guys would be making at least that

oh and do either of the tuner's packages (SOHC or DOHC) come with a blow off valve, ripp ? plus i seem to remember you guys making your own engine management system for use with the SDS... i think you called it a black box? is that a thing of the past with these kits now ?

i also noticed that in the tuner's package, (at least on the SOHC page) no weld oil return was not mentioned... but would i be safe in assuming from your last post ( and reply ) that it is included? :

neogold:

What are the differences between the tuners Package and the kit, just the

HKS AFR

Malpassi fuel pressure regulator/gauge

Six 310cc injectors?

We have not started testing at the moment because we are waiting on a set of aftermarket headers (which is a pre-requisite for the SDS). We recently laid down 312whp 276lbs of torque on a bone stock 2004 V6 2.7L Hyundai Tiburon @9psi. The way the Vortech builds boost is ideal for mid to high compression engines. Most of our Supercharger kits double the cars stock horsepower safely on completely stock engines. We are expecting similar gains with the 3000GT/Stealth.

The pulley that will come with the tuners package and Stage 1 will be most likely be around 4psi.

A price has not yet been established and will be promptly. We may be running a "New Product Sale" or group buy.

What's the HP gain? How much?

The cost is not yet established,as they have literally just completed the install, albeit the shorty headers that Bobk (ek2mfg)shipped out yesterday. As soon as Team Ripp installs the headers, tuning begins. :D Most of us dohc guys with full exhaust,lw cr pulley dyno somewhere between 185-200 fwhp,I'm going to give an UNeducated guess of 297-314fwhp for the tuned prototype at 5-7 psi.I am not sure what Joe has on his car already.Joe also works at Rippmods (his car is a 94).

For those of us that are in on the GB,1k down and approx. 2200 at completion of project. The tuner kit will not include several items the complete prototype kit includes. Expect pricing within a couple of weeks. BTW, the project goal was to be tuned and tested by 23rd of nov.

Lastly, it's nice to read that you FI turbo guys are interested in this FI alternative. We (the GB peeps)have been riding this wave through winter, spring, summer and fall, and now,...let the count down to climax begin. 14 days ;)

444 crank horspower would be quite impressive on the 10:1 DOHC engine without an intercooler. With an intercooler I see that as being very possible with the right pulley and the right fuel.

I'm most interested as to what the torque curve will look like with this system compared to 9b turbos, 13g turbos, and a roots type (eaton m90) blower.

Can you give a breakdown as to what the rpm vs. psi graph looks like with one of these centrifugal blowers?

The vortech builds boost gradually...There is virtually no lag and the pulley size regulates the amount of psi that the blower will put out. We have pulley/SDS setups for the 3G Eclipses/Stratus/Galants that support up to 20psi.

How well does the stock MAF handle being used in a blow thru setup? Are you worried about over-running the MAF?
Thats one thing I always wondered too. If it works fine then cool I think I'd like it that way, but i don't know if mitsubishi designed the MAF to actually work while pressurized by boost, Its usually under more of a vaccume right?

can someone record the show on the computer somehow? I won't be able to watch it.

hell yah.. a year ago when this was still a project, i didn't think about a supercharger > turbo. But the way this looks I think I will buy it. But RIPP I want to know a couple things. I'm a 19 year old college student and I can't afford to break my car if I buy this. I want to know, if my car is healthy and I buy this kit (ceteris paribus)
How much it will cost to go from N/A to F/I street ready.
thats basically it.
I think people who want to make large purchases have to be reassured that they are making the right commitments. Hell, if I would have known my 3000GT would cost me over $6000 in the first two years of owning it, I would have bought a (fill in blank).

well... don't yelll at me but I took these numbers for a rough estimate off RIPP's site, and my extensive knowledge of "How much mechanics cost"

Supercharger tuners package - $2536.13
Headers - $1199.95
Total = $3645.98 without shipping/without installing
Anything extra? like:
$275 for Overdrive pulley (do we need this?)
$75 for Small shaft pulley (do we need this?)
BOV + Boost cooler + OEM gasket = 1039.85 w/o shipping or install

Everything Total: Priceless. $5035.80, thats without install. Say install costs you $1000, or 200 hours of labor x $50 an hour = $6035.80. Plus shipping for everything, about $200. $6235.80 to me is astronomical, and if I were to do this I would double my college debt..

You may not need everything that I listed, (I don't know) but that's what was on the page. The kit seams kinda close to my marginal value, but the headers are priced way too high.

Just flip side, if you only need the Tuner's kit + headers, you only pay
$3736.08 + $1000( pro install) + $100(shipping) = $4836

If you did the install yourself, $3836.08(shipped headers and kit) +$500 misc expense,
you pay $3336.08 out of pocket to go from N/A to rocket.

those headers are full-length(include a downpipe), and jetcoated right? Well anyway, for the SOHC guys he didnt sell the headers for that much... it was around $600-700$ for them

200 hours?!? Is that to install it or develop it? :D

I think you meant 20 hours. LOL

came out to about 960 with jethot coating and shipping.
They replace the headers, downpipe and testpipe/cat as well.
