Well, I got an HID set from Deft spyder which is a high quality 8000K Brightstar kit. I think I posted about glare problems I had with 99 headlights. After I bought the conversion kit, I found that these kits are not completely legal since non-HID projectors create quite a bit of glare. 3000gt projectors are not the worst ones I have seen but they are not perfect either. Anyhow, I am thinking to retrofit my headlights.

I also found out that I would most likely will have to switch to D2S bulbs rather than 9006 I have on right now.

I found a company that can do a retrofit for me. They charge $175 for the labor to do conversion and $200 for HID BMW projectors. In addition, I might have to buy d2s HID bulbs. Does anyone can advice a company that can do the labor and if someone had done retrofits before, if there a company you can recommend?

I noticed that my HIDs look much better (and crisper) in my 97 than they did in my 99. Just a thought...

the last few pics were from my previous high-beam-to-low-beam conversion using a 9005 super white bulb (i think it was PIAA i used or RAZO) trimmed to fit onto the low beam socket.

Anyone have pics of the HIDS Deft Spyder sells that aren't blue and just pure white? I don't like the blue look but I love Pure bright white light.

not sure what you are asking. If you just install the standart HID kit sold all over into our halogen non-HID housings, that is not exactly legal because it creates the glare (see above in a 1st gen stealth) which bilnds the drivers. In order to avoid the glare, people put HID projectors from vehicles that come with HIDs stock into their halogen headlights - that is called retrofitting. Did I answer you question?

which is why i need help putting projectors onto sealed housings! :p

Ahhh, guess i didnt know that kits were illegal. Yes that answers it.

I think that glare problem is at least 50% the fault of shite hardware. I remember the kits that misterjung.com used to sell were advertised as having correct arc placement relative to the tungsten filament on a halogen bulb. 3/S projectors seem to have excellent beam pattern and cutoff, but you would need the arc to be properly located in the housing.

Can people post links to HID kits intended for use in HB4 (9006?) housings?

You're from Lexington too, huh. I guess you're the guy Tim mentioned. Welcome to the board.

I had the 5000K kit from Deft.

I've also owned the Mistjung.com kit. It's a cheap alternative, but that kit is crap.

I put the 5000K hid kit straight into my housings. Although they look good, I am a little disapointed. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it a 8. It's good enough if you don't want to spend the money, but still not perfect. I'm looking for a set of '94 headlights, the glass will provide more focus and better cutoff than the lexan. If I'm still not satisfied, then a retrofit is in order.

And on the legal note. I installed my HID kit, then went for inspection. They asked me if the car came that way. Then they pulled a sheet of white paper to see the color on it. They looked at the BMW in the next lane to my car, and then passed me with no problems at all. On the road, my stealth looks just like a BMW hid. It just doesn't look that way from inside the car :(

Well, I am going to get retrofitted..... still going to talk to the guy over the phone. I got brand new 99 headlights... something I do not want to get messed up.

got them on Ebay along with 4300K Phillips D2s bulbs (have less glare and these are OEM bulbs on BMWs):

Interesting that you think the glass enclosure will make the difference. Are you sure?

Which kit are you saying is cheap, the Misterjung.com kit or the Deft kit?
