Flow's

Stage 1 of my exhaust upgrade..... put a high flow cat with 2.5" mandrel bends and a flowmaster 40 series delta flow muffler. It relieved ALOT of backpressure, and heat all around. (I have burned up an ECU like that) It's a little too obnoxiously loud for my personal tastes. When I accelerate, around 2500-3000 RPM I get a little rattle right behind me somewhere... I want to find it and put some sound dampening material or something to help it out. If I were you, I would go with a 50. Hope this helps...

Peace,

JRL

Yeah, I didn't care for the internal resonance that it created inside the car when I put the DeltaTech Flowmaster 40 on mine. I will definitely go with the Delta 50 next time around, but that won’t be for a long time as Flowmasters last forever. I did, however, find a way to quiet it down just a notch. I put a set of Holly chrome dual exhaust tips with little glass pack resonators in each tip. And since I’m running a dual exhaust setup out the rear that means 4 extra sound dampeners. Made a world of difference inside the car but still left that meaty muscle car sound on the outside.

The Borla over the flowmaster? The borla on the NA sounds real high-pitched and "civic-like" for me...

I put a 50 series Flowmaster NON DELTAFLOW on my NA, I love it. It sounds real throaty and deep, almost like a small block V8, which it has been mistaken for by a few people. A set of glasspack exhaust tips took care of the slight rattle they make at certain RPMs. It is not too loud in the car and it definately does not have the drone of the borla. The 40 series is deeper and throatier, but it definately borders on obnoxious :) The 50 series is the way to go!

I've had it for a year now and love it. It takes about 500-1000 miles for it to fully break in, so it might be a little rattly and such when you first get it, but all new exhaust are like that!

It'll be cheaper than any other exhaust 'system' you could buy anyway. my 2.5" piping into a 50 series flowmaster and out both sides of my car cost $280 total out the door...

Yeah, my fiancée’s sister has several boy friends with high dollar complete catback systems (Borla, Greddy, etc.) and everyone of them make a higher pitch exhaust that sounds more like a 4 cylinder with a hole in the muffler than a high performance V6. Everyone of them have asked me how in the world did I got my car to sound deep and ominous and most of them can't believe it's just a Flowmaster muffler with a home-made dual exhaust. I guess it's all a matter of what you want your car to sound like. I was raised on hotrod V8s so I really didn't want anything that sounded like it was powered by rice crispies. I do wish I had gone with the 50 instead of the 40 but I can live with it for now.
