"direct fit" subframe... how would you go about it?

Hey guys,

I'm going to address the problem with the direct fit frames not being quite direct fit (pic here Type-tR - GTO Project – Fitting Seats!) and was wondering if anybody had any advice?

The 2 rear holes are only about 5mm out so I don't want to attempt to redrill, I was thinking of either filing the current hole a little longer or "softly manipulating" the frame with a hammer.

Has anybody else had this problem or have any idea how i should go about it?

Thanks, Tom.

I have never seen one just drop in. I always dremel the hole out a tad.

I know Its not a massive problem, I'm just not sure which is the best approach as I've never done it before.

If I change the size of the hole should i use a washer to make up the difference, if so I think i might have a problem as it looks like the hole will end up too close to the upwards bend to use a washer?

How do you like those seats as for as comfort and support? Which model did you get?

Doesn't look like there is any lumbar support.

Thanks!

@eengler2 - I havnt spent an aweful lot of time in them tbh, as the car is still off the road, but upto now im very happy with them comfort wise! They are Corbeau Forza (Forza Sport Seat), FIA approved just in case I, or any subsequent owner wants to use it on the track so id guess the support is pretty good...

@i3igpete - Yeee warping the frame is one of my worries with the soft persuasion approach, it sounds like drilling is probably the way to go. I was tending towards the hammer approach too :S.

Has anybody used these exact frames before? Corbeau USA's own direct fit frames.

I can almost guarantee they will not just drop in. But with a dremel you can get them to fit pretty quickly.

Same as every one else says, just touch the holes with a die-grinder and it`ll bolt straight up..

Thanks for the advice all, I ended up using a dremel multi :) was a bit scared of 'persuading' incase it effected the runners.

Story of the job with pics here :) Type-tR

Thanks again guys :). Next up is battery (car isnt starting, i hope its just the battery :S), but some stripped nuts on the strut brace that trap the battery are going to make that fun aswell hehe.
