Hello,

After I installed my amp, and wires including the amp hot wire from the battery to the amp through the firewall. When my car has been running, and I have been listing to my radio turn up. I keep smelling something from the outside of the car especially when I raise my hood. It smells like plastic burning bad, but no smoke. It smell the worst by the firewall. I used a new thick positive amp cable. I can't see no signs off the wire being melted. I don't know if something has failing down the motor, or if it has anything to do with the upgrade of my radio. It has been two weeks now, and the smell is still their. If anyone has any ideals, then please let me know.

Thanks

Stupid question. How big did you make the hole thru the firewall? Did you seal it with a gromet to make sure nothing but the power wire went thru? Did you make sure that you drilled just the firewall and not anything else? Check that. Also, make sure your power line covering isn't melting against the actual engine. You might have secured it before, but it could always come loose.
