Recently the antilock brake light started coming on after I move the car. It never goes off. Is there a simple (cheap) fix for this short of removing the bulb?

Mine just started doing this last week. I drove it after an ice storm and worked the ABS pretty hard. It was bad enough that I just went around the block and switched to my wife's cavalier. A few days later when I got to drive my car again the ABS light was on. I tried the "turn the ignition to ACC10 times" trick, and that turned off the ABS light for about a day.
Now the light is off when I first start the car, but as soon as I start to drive it comes on. I'm thinking that it must be a sensor that was damaged somehow when I was out the other day.
I haven't had a chance yet to pull the wheels off and see what is going on. I'll probably do that in the next few days. If I can find a solution I'll post it.

I got the same prob. My mechanic said it might be a speed sensor.

Common

Mine is on too, with exactly the same symptoms. Key trick did not help me (not even temporarily). I've been told to check the ABS pump ... then move to the speed sensor. I will get to it as I move into doing some minor upgrades on my car. I'll try to post when it's solved.

nothing i tried fixed it....can everyone check their brake fluid and see if it is full? mine was dry if that's why then bleeding the brakes should fix it. but i need to know if you're brake fluid resiviour is full or empty to see if it's worth taking the time to bleed each brake.

my abs light came on today while i was driving.... so as soon as i could, i pulled over shut off my car and then tured it back on .....light still there..so i did it again and the second time the light was off.... i heard some where if you disconnect the + side of the battery cable for like 5 mins it will reset stuff in the car... this may work

This must be a really common problem

I surprised there is not a simple solution. Are there any technical bulletins from the mgf about this?

Like the others my anti lock light goes out upon startup and then comes backon for good after moving about 10'.

Since I cant get a pocketlogger on mine (94-95 3S's dont have one) I'm going to take it to Mitsubishi and get the error codes read.

The weird this was today that the light didn't go on when I took it for a diagnosis drive but I didn't hear the hydraulic pump start to actuate like it should. Man, you think that the service manual would say something useful too, but that would make all of our lives easier.

This happened on my NA also, it could be the sensors, lack of brake fluid could definetly do it, or check the ABS fuses, there are 3 of them. Oh, and the big yellow ABS fuse has a bolt at the bottomw you have to take out first (if it looks blown, you can look in the top) SO DON"T JUST PULL IT OUT!!!

I've been chasing an ABS problem for a while and here's what Ive learned so far...

- If the light comes on after you reach 4 mph, it's most likely a sensor. Disconnect and take a resistance reading. The fronts should be 800-1200 ohms, the rears should be 600-800. Tat should tell you if your sensor is shorted or open circuit

- the manual tells you possible causes depending on the sequence and timing of the light when the car is turned on. If you cannot pull and codes through the diagnostic, the ABS computer may be in a fail safe mode. I'm not sure how to reset this without the correct Mitsubishi tool (I'm still working on that)

Trying to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes does not do the trick. I just got my manual and it doesn't say anything about resetting fail safe mode except reset codes and turn on vehicle. If codes return, then read them and proceed.

I'm guessing that nobody knows how to reset fail safe mode or how to reset all ABS codes?

i got all my breaks changed and my ABS light was still on, my mechanic told me that i need to take some kind of sensor and clean it out with sandpaper and it will go off. i dont remember which one he said but if u goto a shop you might be able to ask them? next time i drive past his shop or if i see him outside of his house ill ask him and post wat he said.

have had the same prob for about a year and had it fixed before, my used to come and go, but now its been non working since the end of last winter. gotta get it fixed before winter starts, and the srs lights on now, wonderful. Thinking mine is a bad speed sensor, turned the car off and then on while driving seemed to cure it for a short while, until i drove over a curb that is, lol.
