Asian market 6 speeds used lower gearing than North American market cars. You need the front ratio to match the rear. Luckily the five speed rear diff will acomplish that for you, and you won't have to source a JDM diff as well...

Do you want the total final drive ratio, or the actuall rear diff ratio?

The rear diff ratio is slightly lower than the front, to compensate for a bit of overdrive in the transfer case.

ok I have my 6 speed drive shaft can I just put the 5 speed rear end gears in the 6 speed rear end housing, not sure if the rear axles change but I have the speed ones right now, thanks for any help

 

Much easier to put a 5 speed rear from a 91-93 awd in the car.

BTW the 5sp rear has a 3.54 ratio, the 6sp usdm rear is 3.30 and the final drive for the JDM 6sp with 5sp rear is 4.15. You'll notice the difference. The USDM final drive is 3.86.

 

so will the rear axles interchange between my 6 speed rear end and the 5 speed rear end

 

There is not difference externally... They are the same differential. Just a different gear ratio.

I just bought a gt3000 NA AWD auto transmission my current rear diff ratio was 3,307 and I plan to convert to TT 5 speed manual can I use back the rear diff which 3,307 ratio?as I know the actual ratio for TT is 3,545 or do I nd to Change the diff also?pls advise.

No, that 3.545 is the actual rear diff ratio. The total final drive ratio of a 5 speed is 3.972

Your rear diff is the same ratio as a USDM 6 speed.
