Here are just some results from Bandimere that I found interesting. Remember that we are at 5800' so cut about a sec off the ET to get the numbers at sea level. This is all from memory so anyone else in attendance feel free to correct me if I am wrong:

2 Stock NSX's: Ran 15.2+ all day except one final pass at 14.6

1 Audi S4: Perfect launch for a 14.3xx

1 Camaro SS State Patrol Cop Car: Never ran better than a 16.2 (extemely disappointing run, even lost to a civic si)

1 Mustang Cobra Convertable: Redlighted everytime for a best run of 15.8

1 Paxton Supercharged S2000: Ran a best 14.7

1 Second Gen Stealth Turbo (most likely at BPU level): Ran a 14.2xx

2 Black BPU+ Supras: Neither broke lower than a 14.5 but had traps about 7-8mph higher than that of other cars turning same ETs. There were a few more supras that were running better times but I have no idea what mods they had but they were in the low-mid 13's.

Brent Rau in his 95 Eclipse: 9.56 @ 152mph for the title fastest import in Bandimere history.

A few civics that were running near 13 flat.

Volkswagon Bug (older one): Ran mid 12's all day.

A Second Gen VR4 w/ at least exhaust: never got better than a 15.1 (he was a dog of the line, no launch).

Pete Palmara: Decided to run his car but was pretty easy on her (meaning no launching) ran what would be low, low 12's at sea level. He said he had a few mechanical issues and boost was running low (no NOS). We should all be so lucky to baby a car off the line with mechanical problems and still run low 12's.

Overall: Cars were running much slower than they could. This should be due to the heat (mid 90's) and the fact that very few cars turned in good 60' and reaction times. A lot of people spun tires or bogged off the line. Most cars looked like they lacked track experience and it showed since some cars were running as much as a second and a half slower than they could of. But it was fun to watch and there were some nice cars. I think that I might hit Bandimere a few times and then show up for the next event in Sept. We'll see.

hey i ran a 15.53 at 89.43 mph this weekend in ohio at the midwest gathering, i beat eric bowden :) he couldnt get out of the 15.7's
i beat a TT twice, (driver lacked experience) muah ha ha ha! N/A's are TAKING OVER!!! :) jk
some tt guys that would run 12's all day at sea level were only in the 13-14 second range. i wonder what i would have done at sea level.......

Thanx weapon for being gental on me! I bogged both runs and ended up with 111mph traps. Big time driver error and car performance suffering.
I was so dissapointed i even decided not to run with ari yallon in the eliminations round in the street 8. I would have gotten my ass handed to me anyways! 2 days prior the car had steady hard 1.7 bar boost in 3rd and 4th gear pulls. That day was only 1.4. Interesting tid bit was that brent raus group did a computer analysis and the air equivilant was at 9800ft!
I have decided to officially pull hipresr off of the dragstip now and forever. These cars especially with bigger turbos are way to hard to launch correctly and effectively. It could be my expierience though as well. I have decided from yesterdays race to go forward and retire hipresr from the drag scene and buy me a car that is meant for a street strip application! My 3000gt will now be used soley for cruising, silver state classic and road course events where these cars do shine! So i will see you guys at bandi still, but next summer in anouther car that will remain undisclosed for now :)
Im glad i saw quite a few 3000gts again and happy to see familiar faces. To bad it was soooooooooooooo fricken hot!!!!!!!!!!! I lost 5 pds of water weight! And also im just happy i left when i did! I drove in the garage just as the first big rain drops started to fall. :D

Hey Pete, I know your runs weren't what you were expecting but looking at a lot of the other numbers, you faired pretty well (except for the real big boys). Like I said some of the BPU+ supras were only getting md 14's and traps as low as 102. I agree though, for serious drag applications the 3si is just not the car for the job unless you have big bucks to do it. Let us know when you decide on a new drag car.

PS. You car would run 11's at sea level with just a little tuning, not bad for weekend cruiser.

Pete, don't hang it up after running at high elevation and hot temps. We've all been following your build-up for over a year and would like to see some good trap speeds (& ETs with practice). You've got to tune that monster at high boost and hit a sea level track this fall!

I would really like to hear more about the ability of the 8cm2 housings to launch hard (under normal atmospheric conditions). Thanks for posting these results, now follow them up with some improvements.:)

Ah, either way, you've got a kick-ass ride, congratulations.

Thanx Joe!
My biggest problem along with all of you is dyno time! You only can do so much to make a car semi accurate by seat of the pants feel and street tuning. I need a dyno all day and tune the fricken thing! There is a place in denver called slipstream that has a awd dyno but they have been dragging their ass on it getting it caliberated right and whatever else is their problem :{
Like i told individuals yesterday at the track, if we had this event 2 days prior i think i would have done pretty well. Tell me a shaky steering wheel in 2nd gear at 1.55 bar is a good feeling that the car is running strong! Never felt that at the track yesterday :(
Ohwell.

Don't give up so soon Pete...whoever said launching an AWD car was easy is full of it. 2.0's are easy...1.7 60's take LOTS of practice! You should come down here to Wichita. 1300' elevation and only an 8 hour drive. Let me drive that SOB...I'll have her screaming for mercy! :eek:

Yeah pete,

I wouldn't give up if I were you. Last year with not as good of setup you still managed a 12.6 at 114. That is pretty damn fast for 5800 feet above sea level.

Pete:

Give it some time, you'll want to go back to the drag track I bet...nothing like having some hard numbers after all that work. Like you said, car not tuned, 90F, bad launches...can't expect GOOD times with all that.

Besides, all you need to launch without bog and go faster...
is right in your signature!

Need _I_ tell you what that SCUBA tank is in there for? :)

Thanx everyone for the support! Time will tell what i do in the long run. Usually if i take a break from the car i will be fine once again and may try it out again for the october shootout. Yes Jack, i do need to get that scuba tank hooked up and need to show Ari what us mile high boys can really do ;)
Yesterday i was still frustrated (that mode you keep playing over and over in your head on what went wrong and how to fix it!) So we will see, since we do need to prove what our cars are capable of. Im still going forward with my other car though for next year but who knows maybe i will get the itch like i always do and show up for one last try. And trevor you have a very good idea! :)
Umm not on the driving part though ;) heheheh
Oh here is one of my runs
reaction= 1.3
0-60= 2.35
1/8= 84.5
1/4= 111.8 at 13.35
temp= 87

And if you want to talk about disappointing, did you see that black eclipse GSX who did the last run before the burnout and miss import contests. He ran a 13.98x (the BPU stealth ran a 14.2xx) and has a list of mods a mile long including an 18G turbo upgrade and a big FMIC. He can barely out run a BPU 3si on the street(he told me he edged one out by a bumper himself). He should be a whole lot faster than that. That is barely breaking 13's at sea level when guys with 16G's are running low to mid 12's. This car could be an 11 second car but the reason it isn't: tuning. The kid has huge injectors and hi flow fuel pump with no fuel managment system what so ever. He basically put all these parts on and turned up the boost. That just goes to show you how much tuning can help.
