Check your grounds!

Just fixed a hesitation/stutter problem tonight and that was the problem.

 

ok thanks and i forgot to add that it was running pretty rich on the front three spark plugs??

 

No... this is another problem. The hesitation can be several things, like a plug gap, coil pack or cables, but the first thing to check is your battery connections, like byebye_sti said.

I have the same problem, but in a turbo engine... a few months ago, when we replace the batt, the stupid guy forgot (?) to tighten the battery cables... we change everything until discovery that... and the car running like a champ now...

 

coil packs, wires, MAF, ECU... check!1!

I checked everything, BUT the grounds; and ofcourse, that was the problem.

Have you messed with the throttle position sensor recently? If this is not right, you will have stuttering. I had this same problem once...changed plugs, wires, fuel filter and o2 sensors, and then it was fine. As mentioned before, clean the MAF.

 

ok ive been hearing a lot about the mass air flow sensor and so i took it off and drove it around and the hesitation and stutter goes away but it just runs crappy should i get a new one??
