Hi all,
I have just purchased the K&N aircharger (63-1000), and
my question is whether or not it comes with the oval
adapter ??? Mine is just the cone without the adapter.

If it does not come with it, where can I get it ?

Thanks

you needed to buy the K&N FIPK.. which is the entire kit including the filtercharger, adapter, mounting brackets, hose clamp, and recharger.. unless you can get all those parts seperately i'd just return it and buy the FIPK (57-1500)

When I ordered the aircharger it came with everything I needed except the cleaning and re-oiling kit. These can be bought at most auto parts stores. I would suggest you call whoever you ordered it from and ask.

You will get everything you need to install the aircharger. DO NOT return it and get the FIPK. The FIPK is smaller, more expensive (because it was reviewed by the Califoirnia Air Resource Board CARB) and is more restrictive than the AirCharger.

The AirCharger is excellent, wait 50,000 miles or when it gets dirty and buy a K&N recharge kit for around $10.

It comes comes with everything to bolt right on to the MAS. If you are in CA, you will need to get a CARB sticker in order to keep that filter on for smog.

This picture from Jeff Lucius' site compares the two

The AirCharger is much larger, I assume that the AirCharger is not legal for emission controlled vehicles because it allows more airflow, hence the smaller FIPK.

EDIT: ahh, Jeff, you beat me to it! Yeah, just look above
How did you post so fast!?!?!?

It was in 4Wheeler Magazine (about 3 months ago) they used the FIPK and the other one, along with various other intakes. They showed graphs of power differences and the AirCharger was slightly higher. This was not tested on a 3S, it was some heavily modded 4x4 but I would think that it would be the almost the same on our cars.....plus, "Bigger is Better" so that just proves it!

The aircharger I had to buy a new silver clamp cu they gave me one way to big but 50 cent piece from hardware store fixed that. And to mount i had to drill a hole.

When I bought my Aircharger it came with the mounting hardware and all that stuff. Like someone stated above, I also did not get the recharge kit (oil/cleaner). I have an extra oval adapter if you are interested. Let me know by e-mail.

So can anyone clear this up...

I have the aircharger and not the FIPK and I can't
understand why the aircharger is cheaper if it's less
restrictive and bigger??

I understand the FIPK is an actual kit which comes with
the oil and all but why would they make it more restrictive?
It's 1 thing if it's smaller due to CARB regs but why would
that make it like $100 higher?

Well, that's all I had to say, take care all.

If anybody in CA has the aircharger and would like the CARB sticker for the FIPK, I'll be glad to send you mine. Being in GA I don't give a damn. I just didn't read up on the differences until I'd already bought the "legal" one, wasting about $60 in the process.
