I just notice that my car starts to shake when i am breaking when i am going over 50....the whole front end shakes and the steering wheel does too. Could it be warped rotters?/

I would get a nice set of drilled or slotted rotors. I have slotted in the back and drilled in the front.. yeah your rotors are in need of replacement. But if you dont have money for slotted rotors. just get some oem replacements at autozone or something. Its probably just your front ones

I was told if the rotors were warped turning them would do nothing. It might not even be possibly to turn them. I just had all 4 rotors replaced. OEM.

In february I took it in and they replaced my brake pads, and said they would turn my rotors. Well a month ago my brakes are making grinding noises and squeeking at times. Not replacing the rotors then destroyed my new pads. So they replaced the pads for free and I bought new rotors.

My car does this when im stopping fast or stopping on gravel, rain a little too fast, I figured it was just the abs at work....

ABS will feel a lot different than the shaking from warped rotors. You'll also hear the ABS pump kick in when it is needed.

Where in indiana are you?? and how much did you pay to have your breaks done. You can save $100's of dollard doing it yourself.

How do you tell the difference? If it usually happens in rain or on gravel is it the ABS?

Up by the michigan border, in Granger, by South Bend. My father prefers me taking my car somewhere to get any major work done. The plus side of doing this is that he will usually pay for it if I take it somewhere instead of doing things myself.

Turn the rotors. Dont waste money that you dont have to. Mine had to be turned four times it was so bad and they work fine. Also keep an eye out on the wheel weights, when they come off sometimes they can do stuuf to-although it would be all of the time then.

the main reason rotors get turned is because they are warped. There is no sense in resurfacing smooth rotors yo.
The purpose of getting rotors turned is to clean the surface of the rotor so the new pads have a nice surface to mate to. The surface of the rotor may seem smooth, but actually it is real rough when looked at microscopically. You only take off a very small amount of surface on a rotor when turning them; I mean thousandths of an inch, so turning a warped rotor usually doesn't work, depends on how badly it is warped. A lot of places won't bother to turn a rotor that is warped. Change them yourself. Go to Autozone or the local parts store and you will save lots of money. The last time I got rotors at Autozone for my Jeep they had a two year warranty on them, very worth it.

Like I said, you'll hear the abs pump kick in. Warped rotors feel more like shaking. ABS feels like your pumping the break, kind of a jerky stoping.
