AWS on 1995 Dodge Stealth

I have looked all over for a page I had read awhile back stating that the 95 Stealth did NOT have AWS nor electronic climate control unit as a weight reduction attempt. I swore I read it on stealth316.com, but I can't find it any more. I also checked a few other sites, as well as searching on here and can't find anything.

According to the production numbers here: Stealth 316 Home my 1995 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo didn't exist. I read that they were basically 1994's just "re-badged" for 1995... But according to the 1994, it has AWS, electronic climate control, and steering wheel radio controls.

I guess I'm just confused... is my car an actual 1995? Or is it a 94; if so, why does it lacks features of a 94? Does it have AWS? I won't be able to get the car on a lift until spring, I was also trying to find the weight of the car, since it is supposed to be the lightest 3/S ever made if I recall.

Thanks...

I don't know the details, but, supposedly the 95's were "rebadged" 94's, like that article states. However, I know for a fact that 95 RT/TT's don't have AWS, auto climate control, etc. If your car is a true 95, it wouldn't have AWS (and judging from the fact that your VIN doesn't come up with a record on that site, I am guessing yours is a 95). The 95's also came with the optional 18" chrome wheels, another identifying characteristic.

That's what I was thinking, yet they supposidly weren't made in 1995... which makes me wonder why the 57 96's are more rare, considering the 95 is non existant...

Some data is missing however, and this missing data is not included in these tables:
There may be 3500 or so VINs missing from 1991 but it is hard to tell since it appears that Mitsu may not have used completely contiguous VIN ranges in that year at the Nagoya plant.
There appear to be 550 VINs missing from 1995 models and I am assuming for now they were all 1995 Stealth Turbo's as there are none of these in the MIB database.
There appear to be 561 VINs missing from 1997 models built between the start of November 1996 and the end of January of 1997.
Also, there were no 1995 Stealth TT's present in the CAPS database, although I've heard of them and seen one. I suspect that any 1995 Stealth TT is really a left-over 1994 model (which still included the AWS). I also suspect that low demand and the changeover to the non-AWS Stealth TT may have taken an extra model year. If you have a 1996 Stealth TT (made for the US only, none for Canada), it is one of only 57 Stealth TT's without AWS.

the 95's and 96's were almost 100% the same with the largest change being the spoiler. you are correct that these two years are the lightest since they have more "basic" features like you had mentioned. the very early 95's did have aws but there were very few with this. mine does not have it. all the very early 95's have weird options i have heard of people getting a power antenna and whatnot. the easy wait to tell is to check the build date.

I have a '95 stealth as well without aws climate control ecs and all that other stuff. Just a glitch in the system. I doubt they were left over 94's because they don't have glass headlights and aws/climate control/ecs etc...

Exactly, but the thing that crossed me was the left-over 94 rumor... That and the fact that Stealth 316 shows "missing" 95's. What is that mean exactly? Why are they missing, I guess I just don't understand. Although, I'm fine with a car that doesn't exist =p.

Can anyone link the page that shows the weight of the other 3/S's compared to the 95/96? Or what the 95/96 weighed w/o a driver?

My 95 stealth turbo does not have AWS, climate control, or a power antenna.

However, the 95 dodge stealth factory service manual (directly from dodge, not a knock off) has a section in it for the service of the AWS system.

so... yeah...

Can't you jack your car up and try it?

I'm not going to get into how or why they exist but I worked at a Dodge dealership during these years in question :

There were 1995 RT/TT's built with steering wheel radio controls/power antenna/AWS/automatic climate control and I remember seeing them. They also came with the 17" wheels.

There are not many of them, but they do exist. Doing a search here will reveal that there was a member on here at one time that owned one.
