quick question to all my 3000gt homies out there.
My 3000gt is leaking anti-freeze but can't seem to detect where its coming from. I'm thiking its problem from one of the hoses. Or could it be that if I changed out my radiator cap would that fix the problem. I hear peeps saying replacing a radiator cap over time is good, for what reason I don't know. Any help is appreciated.
Another quick question, I hear a lot of peeps with 3000gt have changed out there water pump, is this by any way related to the anti-freeze leaking from my car, what is the purpose of the water pump.

thanks. race on proudly.

Preventative maintenance. The rubber gasket on it hardens with age, and eventually fails to seal. Also, the cap itself may malfunction with age, and fail to open or close when it ought to.

Your water pump sucks cold coolant in from the bottom of the radiator, pushes it through the engine block and back out to the top of the radiator, where it cools, and gets sucked out again at the bottom and the whole cycle repeats itself. Coolant rids your engine of waste heat, and the water pump circulates the coolant so it can do that. Head down to the library and pick up any book on internal combustion engines - it's all very illuminating.

Yes, your water pump could be related to your coolant leak, but so could a million other things. I'd suggest getting your engine steam-cleaned (so you can see the leak), and then carefully tracing the leak back to its source.
