The Problem:
I put the key in the car ignition cylinder, and turn it all the way over and the car cranks. However, i turn the key all the way off and pull it out (indicating the lock cylinder is indeed in the off position) but the car stays in the accessory mode on my gauge cluster. Ive done research and so far these are the possible solutions:
- bad lock cylinder
- bad ignition starter switch
- bad neutral safty switch
As of now....
I have the lock cylinder out, and the ignition starter switch out. now, before i ordered any parts, i tried putting it back together cuz its been apart for about 5 days now. and im begining to wonder if the whole assembly is bad. I hooked up the ignition starter switch, but the shaft that goes on the end of the key cylinder and connects into the ignition starter switch wont turn all the way over and crank now. upon futher inspection, where that shaft connects to the ignition starter switch, it passes through a thin piece of metal with a small hole in it, and that piece is very loose. so loose that i have to use a small screw driver to lift it up and wiggle that shaft piece till it falls into place.
can anyone help me here before i go spending money on things i dont need.
