I have a 93 Stealth TT its stock except it has a stage II racing clutch and what i was wanting to know was should i be able to beat a stock well kept 89 Mustang from a stop? Because im racing this boy friday and was wondering if he had a good chance of winning... Also I ordered the JIC exhaust from 3SX and was wondering if i should wait for that to come in before i race him... Thanks

I just put my exhaust on tonight and some octane boost in my gas so tommorow after school ill tell you how it went and I will try to get my friend to take a video of it from inside my car as we race...God i hope i kill him because he has been talking so much junk all day and im gonna go off on him if i win

Been said, but octane boost is crap. Its only raises your octane by .1 PER BOTTLE! Its cheaper to put race gas in. Which of course you WON'T do because I'm sure your stock TT isn't set up to run on it.
Save up the $4 per octane bottle and buy something that'll actually help, like good synthetic oil and quality filter. Hell, fuel injector cleaner will do more for you than the octane booster, lol

Octane booster is garbage. You have nothing to worry about. A stock 89 5.0 Mustang is slow. I used to beat them in my SL all the time.

well i dunno about 89 stangs, but i raced a 95 mustang gt, he has CAI, exhaust and einach springs, i have a 96 3kgt NA, full exhaust, udp, intake, and some other goodies, and i took him by about 2 car lenths, he raped me off the line but i caught him in 2nd

Get a MBC, put your exhaust on, and gut your cats. You will simply be amazed at how fast you pull away from him as will everyone who thinks an 89 mustang is fast.

Really it wasn't until 2003 that Ford released a mustang that could easily beat a vr4/tt, it only took them 13 years. Get some 15g's and its back to square one. Love these cars.

Better make sure that Mustang is stock. There are about a Bazillion things you can do to a Mustang, and for next to nothing also.

If he's stock, you'll take him no problem, but a stock Mustang is as common as a 9 second vr4 if you catch my drift.

He's right. "Mustangs are like a box of chocolates... you never know what your gonna get" You maybe running a 15 sec mustang or you maybe running an 11 flat stang. Better know what your getting yourself into before you get 0wn3d.

yea like everyone else says, watch out for a not so stock, "stock" mustang. they like to think the shit they put on their cars keeps them stock. but if he is in fact stock, with a mbc, youll beat him with a good launch. i know this cuz i have an 86 stang gt. i raced a newer gt when my vr4 was just stock, he said he was stock, but he beat me right before the line. i saw him again, he failed to mention it had intake, full exhaust, throttle body, and 373 gears. somehow when we raced, that was stock. exhuast is a given since about every mustang out there has one, but the gearing and shit will really help him put the power to the ground, and you wouldn't be able to make that up in a race.

like everyone said get a mbc, intake and boost gauge and go for it.

I held even with a 94 5.0 to about 90 with a friend of mine. and I was a pretty much stock NA(he got me off the line and we were even from then on)

I raced him and we tied he left me off the line but i was catching up to him at the end and would have passed him... Also i was at a stop and he was rolling and about 2 feet in front also it was straight piped... I was hoping to win by more but what can i do...

RWD beat your AWD launch???

be cautious... you never know what he might have.

btw octane boost is a waste of $$. theres been tests done and it MIGHT raise the octane level on a full tank by 1. besides, it wont do anything for you if you are stock anyway. its basically just alcohol in that bottle with some other variations and whatnot. biggest scam ever.

stock foxbodies run high 14's, some low 15's. the autos were dogs in stock form.

my friend with a 89 LX that has a built AOD, 373's, TC, headers, catback, h-pipe, CAI, trickflow intake man., race heads and i think a E303 cam with nitto 555Rs... only ran a 13.3 @ 103 and dynoed like 270 at the wheels.

he might have more, but just be careful. if you lose, you lose, just have fun

How the heck did He get You off the line? I'm guessing you 'launched' from idle and slipped the clutch. Next time hold your rpm's somewhere between 5-6K and drop your clutch. There's no way he'd keep up with that unless he has 410's and fat @$$ slicks. You should do it again;).

Practice this, as I've seen and had my share of bogs once the clutch drops. Fine the 'sweet' spot, some launch great at 3-4k and some need the 5-6k drop
