1997 check engine light??

My check engine light came on today, and I can only find how to check for the problem on a 1991-1993 model. How can I check it on a 1997 model??

autozone will do it for free. Or you can spend a few hundred on a datalogger and check your CEL's on your own for the rest of your life.

ok, I went to Autozone and got a PO421 code twice. It said preheat 1st cat converter??? Is that something to do with only the front precat and not the rear precat, being gutted??
