18x9 wheels...what tire size?

Looking at buying a new set of wheels and tires for the 94SL. It doesn't have ECS and has KYB GR2 struts with Intrax lowering springs.

The wheels I'm looking at are 18x9's (I already know the offset is right). I just need to know what size tire to go with. Would a 245 45 18 be good or should I go a little narrower (235)? Also, is 45 a good sidewall height or should I go with a 35 or 40?

Looking to purchase these badboys soon so if you all can let me know what you think I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

I run 245/40's But a little larger in either number should work fine...

As long as you have enough wheel. Or else you can enjoy feeling the car roll side to side on the sidewall of the tires in corner transitions.

Hell, 275's on my 9.5's is actually wider than i would prefer to use if i was road coursing my car since even then the tire is a bit wide for the wheel.

Jason, you might like a 265/35/18. I loved them on my 9.5's. :bigthumb: However, if you need the straight line traction contact patch, you might not care as much about the sidewall slop. I know you like going fast down the 1/4 mile.

I'm running 275s but because of cost reasons, I think the next set will be 255/40. I'll admit though, the 275s on there look awesome, especially straight on from the front or back. The were originally purchased for show reasons. My car never really sees any track time though, so I can't really comment on the roll behavior of the sidewalls. They don't feel spongy to me though, hopefully next year though I'll have the time and money to actually get into some autocross or something. It won't be on these wheels though, because they're too pretty (and heavy).

Are you concerned about keeping the speedometer accurate? If so, then you should keep the diameter in mind when bumping up the width. Most manufacturers publish this info. Consider the diameter of the stock tires and use that when looking for those wider tires. diameter doesn't have to be exactly the same .......... reasonably close.

245/40/18 Falken Ziex ZE-912 fit great on my 18x9 Konig Villains. Not all 245 series tires are the same width oddly enough.
