145 last weekend at the Atlanta gathering. I used the NOS to about 120 and then layed off of it to 145. I will break 150 but I am going to need a seriously long and straight road to do it. The run to 145 was on I-75 in traffic so it was a little scarey.

I got my speedo up to 155mph the other week... it was busted though.

No, but really.. I've gotten up to 140mph in my DOHC n/a..

120 before I got scared. The tires weren't balanced well enough for such high speeds, and it made the car shake

I have been to around 135-140. I had overdrive off, and when the RPMs got real high at around 110-120 or so, the computer let it go into 5th gear. (with OD off the car is only supposed to allow gears 1-4 or something.) so at like 125 I was at 3000 rpm. I had plenty of room do go, just no (safe) space to do it in. I'll find a long stretch someday and take it to the max.

 

125 or so. on I-70 in MD before i got to hagerstown. borla TT exhaust, 5th gear at 4200 RPMs or so.

alien, you don't have 5 gears with an auto, just 4.

autos are 4-speeds. When you take the OD off, it eliminates the 4th gear.. it's mainly meant for when you're cruising at highway speed and want to pass.. you take off the OD, and shifts down the 3rd at a high RPM and lets you pass easier than if you slam on the gas and make the tranny shift to 2nd or 3rd manually..

 

I have been up to 145 before. I am pretty sure my speedo is fairly accurate since a friend and I have worked on it.
Oh, and that was 145mph, and I had a little bit left. Too bad the girl I was with looked like she was about to reverse gears or I probably would have kept going.

 

shit.. that's what I thought. then to check I looked up the specifics and it says 5 speed. I didn't look any further and just read it as 5. I knew OD cut a gear off.
then it went from 3rd at high rpm to 4th around 120. whatever. all i know is around 120, the rpms cut in half.

Now I look dumb. :\ blah

 

120 in my stock base model gt. then got pulled over but I had slowed down to 100 by then. heh.

Alligator Alley / Everglade National Park - 50 miles of nothing, 3am, Naples to Miami

Sustained it for 15 seconds (seemed like forever), let off the gas and it was if I had applied the brakes. The wind noise is loud and scary!

If someone wants to ride with me...I'll do it again as proof.

 

I did 150 in my old 93 SL, the car was a 5 speed. I-95 in Maine is one wide open stretch of road.

 

146 on I-95 I could have gone higher but ran outta road... uaually I can get to 120-125 on a normal day

167 or 168 seven years ago on an empty public going into a valley with good visability after I put on my 13 G turbos and a VPC. I cant belive I was that STUPID! the car felt stable up to 135 and felt like it had more but I didnt. Nobody should ever find out the top speed of their cars that way.

 

Hey mjb440 that's cheating...no turbos allowed in this poll.

My record is 141mph on I-20 heading east out of Atlanta. Sustained it about 10 seconds, coulda gone more, but geez...cars fly by sooooo fast at that speed, if one happened to be a cop....BUSTED!

this was in downtown chattanooga(on the freeway of course) while racing a nice vr-4, i got whooped

 

My record is 148mph.....I could have hit 150 or faster but I was coming up on some trucks and the autobahn was only two lanes and I didn't want to pass them in the next lane going 80mph faster then they were...I see 100mph all the time!!!

I will get a pic next time for proof

I've gotten a lot of comments like "That's not real" or "The car must have been on jacks" and other things like that, but I know it was real. I saw the speeding ticket after the state cop pulled him over shortly after that. This does not take into account the speedometer being off. I have not yet canged the speedo gear.

130 on I-40 (and again on TN hwy 75) through rural TN in the middle of the night... Had plenty of room left on the tach but chickened out... don't want a ticket at that speed.
