Weird sunroof switch

I have a 1995 SL and I’m trying to figure out my sunroof not working and came across this switch, It doesn’t screw in or fit solid into anything so it’s not supported by anything. I can’t seem to find any pictures of it online or any information on how this fits solid into the roof

I agree, not a factory sunroof. Im sure you can find a way to make that switch hold tight in the hole.

What you have there is likely, though I cant see your sunroof. That switch is the same one I have, and you likely have the same sunroof I have which is a webasto hollandia 300 tilt and slide spoiler sunroof.
Ill upload some pictures of what mine looks like. I had to rip my headliner in order to replace the motor for mine.

Try and press and hold the open button and see if you hear a slight "click sound" My sunroof gave me problems where it wouldnt open and wouldnt close sometimes and then eventually just got stuck open. Whenever I would press the button, if it wouldnt open or close, I would basically just hold down the button until I heard a click and would keep repeating that until it finally moved. Eventually it did just get stuck open because the motor was bad. I replaced it with a new motor that took months to find and works like new.

That looks just like it, after pulling out the dome light I was able to see the motor and it looks exactly the same, I have some broken wires that are old so I’m not too concerned with the function of the sunroof but you seem to have a panel that holds in the button. Mine just floats there and isn’t supported by anything. Where would I get that panel?

honestly dont know where you would get it. You have basically 2 options for aftermarket sunroofs. Donmar.com and thesunroofdoctor.com. Donmar will take ages to email you back and they dont have a phone number to call. When I last emailed them they said they still had serviceable parts for the hollandia 300, no idea if that cover plate counts as a serviceable part. I tried calling and emailing thesunroofdoctor many times and never got a response. Webasto no longer makes aftermarket sunroofs or parts for them. Parts for this sunroof are incredibly hard to find.

Looks like someone went in there and messed with it at some point. The headliner doesnt match up up with where the switch goes. The part number for it is listed as number 15 in the photos I attached. Though I cant get any results online by searching the part number and I havent been able to even contact webasto when I did try months ago.
