ok, my lighter stopped working so i decided to fix it. it seems the wire for power was not getting power so i decided to run a new wire for the power. i ran it off of the back of my stereo so i could only use the lighter when the car was on(for my radar detector). i was also looking to use my same pwr for my indiglos but remembered my lights would need to be on. anyways, the pwr for the lighter decided to work all of a sudden before i finished running my new one. i cleaned up and it worked but i noticed that none of my gauges light up or my ac knobs but the overhead lights work. so i go to close my door and arm my alarm and when i do(arm my alarm) my gauges light up!(my headlights flash and my gauges light up with my headlights normally). as soon as i unlock it and get it (they are still lit up) i turn the ignition and they dont work. im flippin out. please help!
thanx

Voodoojuju has acknowledged that the gauges are not very durable, so he's swapping out the bad ones with some upgraded ones. I took very special care while installing them, no pinched wires or anything. Should be getting them this week.

no, i already got a new set and they work fine. it seems to be an electrical short and i dont know what it could be. they dont get power(my main and combo gauges AND my knobs for AC) under normal circumstances but when i use my alarm they flash as normal. its weird......

All of that points to a blown TAIL fuse. The alarm can flash the lights because it has an independant source of power.

When these interior lights don't work, you also don't have tail lights or parking lights. You have brake lights but nothing else - don't drive at night like this!

Yeah! I had the same problem with my 97 base 3000GT. My dash lights suddenly stopped coming on or they started coming on and then would shut back off. Then eventually, they stopped coming on period. I took it to the Mitsu dealership and they said it was a faulty door switch and relay. I guess the door switch some how blew the relay or something like that.

Actually, this problem was a blessing in disguise(spelling) because that day I went to pick it up I saw a 97 Pearl White VR4 in the lot.........which I own now! WOOHOO!!!:D:D

EDIT: Correction! Not own but finance....:D
