Took my cracked RP01 and had it welded today at a cylinder head repair shop. The owner did it, he said that the wheel was made of low grade aluminum, and that it began to melt far before the aluminum welding rod he used. I *cannot* recall hitting a pothole or any other road debris, but he said that any sufficiently hard bump with thin profile tires would probably crack these wheels.
I know a lot of other 3/s owners have these wheels, so it's probably worth inspecting them for cracks and other wear.
