I've been looking at getting some coilovers and potentially a big brake kit down the line, Tein's are only available for the VR-4 and same goes with most of the good big brake kits. My question is what's the difference in those respective parts compared to an SL? In theory could I still use those parts while maybe modifying the brackets/mounting? I already have some ideas to why it might not work, just wanna hear the exact differences if any of you know.

VR4s all run larger brake rotors than the SLs. To do the conversion you need to replace the knuckle and the caliper to make it work. The Gen 1 brakes will work with 17" wheels, if you get parts off a Gen 2 then you need to go with a 18" minimum wheel

Suspension wise, the front's are the same, but the rear suspension setup is different. There are a lot of threads about using VR-4 coilovers on the FWD chassis.

There are also alternatives to TEIN, that offer coilover suspension for the FWD bodies.

Ok that's kon par with what I was thinking, I already got some 18" wheels but was struggling to find any big brake kits that are good and fit an SL.

Ok I will keep looking around for the VR-4 stuff, I already found some K-Sport GT Pros that are around my budget and fit an SL. Only reason I ask is I've seen many people recommend a whole assortment of brands and models that I can't seem to source anywhere except for Tein, which is only available for the VR-4's. Anyone know of any other site that I can check? Already looked at 3SX, CarID and the actual manufacturers sites.

It depends ultimately on your budget, but most typical suspension manufacturer's also sell them for the FWD chassis.

Here are some simple brands that a lot of people start off with. I am not trying to criticize you and your ability to search things, but like I mentioned.. These are very popular and well known brands that sell coilovers, directly from the manufacturer website. Simply typing in "3000GT FWD Coilovers" will yield these results.

I would entirely recommend saving your money, time, and a headache by purchasing the correct coilovers for your vehicle. Do not buy VR-4 coilovers for your SL, as it is not a direct swap replacement.
