ETA: After running with the latest and greatest version of the app, V1.12.100, and using the all new mysterious sensors listed in it, I can report two things.
1. The stock boost clown gauge is NOT due to the sensor or what the ECU sees.
2. I was able to run the car today and get it under boost. The Torque Pro vacuum/boost gauge appears to be accurate!! See circled gauge. And yeah, I changed the theme again - can't see the dark ones in the sunshine.

Every once in a while I like to play with the theme in the Torque Pro app. I monitor and datalog things like throttle position, engine load %, MAF CFM, intake temp, coolant temp., voltage, knock, GPS speed, RPM, timing advance, you know all the cool stuff.

So yesterday I installed a pretty neat theme and figured I'd do a couple of screen shots and post them. Everything's fine at this point. Now, this tablet is sandboxed - it never connects to a network unless I really need to. So I turn on the wi-fi and get distracted before I do the screenshots and upload to photos.

I come back an hour later and Android has updated Torque Pro and it's all gone. My gauges, my datalogs, all the PIDs, my cars profile. At least MUT was still there. At least the PID CSV file was still in downloads so I had to copy that. That's when it became a battle royale because the CSV (and the subfolder with it) would install and then vanish. After a bit of applying my vast cranial powers, I figured that I needed to start the car and connect to it first and volia' CSV magic.

Now, here's the weird thing. While the car was idling and I was setting up the app a few things stuck out because of the update because they sure were not there before.
They are things like:
  • Oil temp.
  • Throttle position (don't remember that one but it might have been there before. I know load was but not throttle)
  • Vacuum/boost (checked against a mechanical gauge - yep, it's showing correctly. Where the hell did THAT data come from? We'll see if it measures anything like expected boost or if it's like the stock clown gauge)
  • Barometric pressure (from car data)
  • Extended GPS data (existing data that the update can display)
  • Intake manifold pressure (14.6488 psi - sounds worthless)
  • Speed from vehicle (not GPS)
And a lot more fuel trim related data which is probably useless.

Hmm, you made me look what I have 1.12.100. Went to Google play, says there will be " a small update before torque starts again" adjustment of timer to fix a small startup issue....

I am using OBDlink MX+

The most surprising "upgrade" is that it now picks up the OBD mph and the oil temp.. So now I have to wonder what the ECU needs the oil temp for.

I am also at 1.12.100 running on a Samsung SM-T387T tablet with the special cracked screen option, Android version 10.0. I'm using OBDLink LX. I didn't need the MX since I'm not running Single-Wire CAN (GMLAN).

There is no oil temp sensor stock, so whatever you are seeing is not oil temp. Also, there is no manifold pressure sensor, so you aren't seeing true boost numbers as well. The factory boost gauge sees calculated load based on what the ecu outputs (rpm and karman sensor dependent). You will need actual MAP sensor and temp sensors wired into the controller to see that data. ECU can't possibly see what there is no sensor for.

Yeah we pinned it down to antenna effect interference for the oil temp.

And no, I have checked the vacuum readings against a mechanical gauge. It is accurate. At full throttle I get 6 to 7 psi but I don't redline. In the Torque app, the engine load % is the same data as the factory "boost" gauge.

@oldmaninsaline , where did you get the new theme ?I like that.
Depends on which one you mean. The one in the original post photos is too dark for daytime, you can't see jack on the screen. The app has a toggle for daytime/nighttime themes.

As far as the theme with the squares like in my first pic....I forget.

The white theme you have now !. Oh also your models on top of the tablet !!

I am curious to see how the factory boost gauge is reacting in relation to the load and vacuum gauges if you get a gopro mounted to your forehead or a passenger that can take video.

I also have my adult beverages this evening. I am hanging with Mr.Miller and his high life LOL

Funny I only come on these forums like 5 minutes a month and i see this thread :). I'm still using the setup i have here: Datalogging using Torque Pro App and BlackStealth’s OBD1...

I run it on an old Note 5 phone and i never update the app. I did a year or so ago and i had to reconfigure some settings. Also, the fuel trim data isnt particularly useful but the O2 voltages can be for qualitative AFR data.

EDIT: And to clarify to anyone who didnt read into my thread in more detail, WBO2, boost, oil temp, and oil pressure are all from aftermarket sensors running through blackstealth's converter

I've never updated Torque either - why break it if it's fixed. My error leaving the network connect was quite upsetting. Us old people fixate on things as we age and that was one hell of a fixation.

I'm surprised that I was able to reconfigure it as quickly as I did.
