Here are some pics of my tutorial.....

Tools you will need......

this is the under side of the EVO Steering Wheel .. you will have to take a part to CUT and Weld the RING / HUB

take the plastic ring off with a FLAT head Screw driver or a knife like i did...

Remove both screw that are located on each side... to remove the AIR BAG

Remove the three screws to remove the plastic cover

I Cut the Plastic cover like so.... now it can fit the BIGGER 3000gt RING / HUB

Now the HARD part of the project.... CUTTING or Removing the weld of the ring / hub to replace with the 3k one.

i welded the OUT SIDE AND THE INSIDE just to be safe!!!!

This is what you should have at this point......

I'm confused.

I thought the Evo airbag system and 3000GT airbag systems aren't the same (the Evo being a two-stage airbag system IIRC) so it won't work?

If the airbag would still work, then that is truly awesome and something I will be attempting in the near future.

Great tutorial btw.

Nice!!

I have a quick question since I've never had my steering wheel off before. Do our stock steering wheels only go on one way (aka do they have a "goofy" spline), or do you have to mark the splines so it goes back on the correct way, so you don't accidently put the steering wheel back on off centered?

This is great! At 6' 4" I have always found the steering wheel to be unnecessarily large. Made heel/toe action a real PITA during autox.

+1!

You don't have to add this to the bottom of your tutorial, but can you answer this one for me:

well.... it has grids... so you can put the steering wheel sideways...

but no problem just move it around till is strait... it took me 2-3 tries to get it back to place i wanted... which is real center...

Huh, no kidding. I would've thought it would only go on one way or at least have alignment marks on it.

Thanks for the info!
