So this idea came up in another thread.
What I want to do is start a thread as a sort of a guide to Mechanics/tuners that are willing to or have worked on our cars before. Also any other workshops that you know of or have a connection with that can aid and assist other owners in Aus (more specifically, state) get the neccessary work on their cars. If your post does NOT use this template, I will simply delete it. I dont want to have to go around and fix members posts when it's easy enough to do it yourself. :)

Just quote this msg and then delete the quote brackets.

Review: replaced my Gearbox and transfer case oils with redline.
Told me I already had redline in the rear diff, so they left it alone, saving me $$.
I would recommend if you want someone to supply and install redline oils..
Don't have a 4wd dyno and didn't seem interested in tuning..

Workshop: ABS Brake and Clutch Osborne Park
Type: Clutch replacement
Contact: ??
Address: Hutton Street, Osborne Park Western Australia 6017.
TELEPHONE: (08) 9444 9911
Review: They quoted me 7.5 hours to replace the clutch and 'only' charge $100 an hour, said they had done one before, so I gave them a go. I provided the clutch (courtesy of 3sx) and they installed, they told me the master cyl was leaking so got it re-conditioned and also said my CV boots needed replacing, they found some generic ones to fit which saved a lot.. I was expecting to pay over a grand, but the bill came in under that so I was happy.. Showed me the old clutch, no surprise it was slipping as it was worn down to the steel..

Review Thread: Had my GTO serviced by Tony at GTO 3000GT Motorsports 3 times. He owns one himself, and his mate also owns one. He's been working on these cars for years and years - knows them inside out. He has developed mods to help with some of the inherent problems of these cars - tailshaft rubbers, bearings, engine mounts etc.

I give PULSE a 2/10...

The Bad:
they decided they could not fit things how I wanted, did things their own way and had a whole heap of problems which cost me a good chunk of money. did all of this without telling me.
they told me the car was fine, yet when i pick it up they say when it's cold it has a slight accelleration miss...wtf either it's perfect or it's not.
they also did not put my battery box strapping back on, so when I got in and drove the battery and box were rolling around the fkn boot.

Things are looking happier...I spoke to the Tuner and he said it's definitely taking input from the MAF...not sure I 100% believe him....but we shall see as he's going to show me how to see the input from it and all that in the ECU

Advanced Automotive.
0/10 Frankly they don't deserve any rating IMO
Advance Automotive

Mind you they are not a tuning workshop, just a mechanics, however I have never delt with a more rude, arrogant asshole then the guy who runs this workshop.
More details can be seen here

But yeah, Steer WELL AND TRULY away from him and make sure family/friends around the north melb area do the same.

Well this is not overly helpful to me in Canberra...
I'm about to give either JapSpec or Jake's Performance a go depending on who gives the better quote.
Will post about my experience after :)

Jakes don't do general work, only heavy performance upgrades and dyno, so I won't be hitting them up anytime soon.

I took my car back to Pulse a 3rd time, well got it back and all seemed fine, made a few odd noises etc but seemed to drive well so I was happy...

Then I got it into my garage to swap the clutch and FUCK ME DEAD. could not organise a root in a brothel...freaking -10 out of 10,
1, They lost one of the bolts for the spark plug cover down the engine, then found some more bolts to replace the stock ones with, then forgot to even put the freaking cover back on at all....
2, I have a boost control solenoid "sitting against" the firewall....not even any cable ties, what the SHIT is this.
3, for the Y pipe they CUT out the inner most lip (closest to throttle body that has the inbuilt oring) and rather than attempting to fit a oring or SOMETHING they just got a clamp and attempted to clamp the shit out of it, are you SHITTING ME. was wondering what the 'cool' whistling sound was when it started to make boost, never imagined that it was this.

other than that all sorts of bolts loose, replaced with non stock ones...really just shit work.

So we're back on the "FU Pulse!" bandwagon again?
I think you need to start hitting them up for free repairs to all their dodgy "work" and then start looking for a real tuner!
you want to get your car to a certain level of power, performance, etc. and all they are doing is holding you back by fking shit up all the time!
i'd be well pissed!

I may have a recommendation in the near future.
I have been focused on getting a place i was comfortable with to service the RS4. Had a 60k service which is the equivalent 90k 3000gt service plus brake replacement. Quote from Audi was $12000 and i did not have too much confidence in them. Decided to give the Jax tyre place in Geelong the work. Got parts from Germany and USA and total cost was $3800($800 labour). Did an excellent job and I was able to see it getting done. Interestingly the front of the car swings away from the front(V6 ns).
Went on to get all major sensors replaced and the car is like brand new!
With that done I decided to move on to the Stealth and get the oil useage fixed. The shop that did my full rebuild was Tim Slako in Perth who is listed here; I would not recommend them!
Vince always believed the Stealth was over fueled and the Motec was not set up appropriately. Decided to look at the Motec set up. Vince found several issues in the set up and we decided to remove it and take the engine back to running on the standard ECU. Wanted to then reinstall standard injectors and thats happenning shortly(kindly donated by Pete). We will then run can for several weeks and make sure all is good. Rectify the oil useage issue if it is still a problem. Compression is fine.
If thats all OK then going to install FMIC(ETS system), reinstall larger injectors(525or 680) and use a Apexi AFC at around 1 to 1.2 boost.
HKS SMIC available for sale shortly.

On a side note, I reckon to find the best mechanics and tuners to work on our cars, sometimes we need not look further than the Aussie roll call thread. So much GTO knowledge on here ;)
