Just take your time and do LOTS and LOTS of reading before you attempt anything and you will be fine. Yes mistakes will be made from time to time, but that is how everyone learns.

stealth316 as you probably know has very nice write ups with photos.

I know a hand full of people who've done it themselves
<<< jumps into Bridge's hands as another local who has successfully completed a 60k on his own!:muahaha:

It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. But, of course, you need to be mechanically inclined!;)

I wish I was as mechanically inclined but not quite. I was hoping to avoid the dealer for my 120k cause they charged appx $2200 for my 60k. So this weekend I'm attempting plugs, wires, along with valve cover gaskets for the first time.
i rolled my rear gasket my first time cause i was rushing. it's the only way to learn.

So if there are no trusted shops in the area, where is everyone having their maintenance, such as 60k and 120k, service done at?

See the very first post.

Jeff and I are both still around...

My phone number is on my site Milwaukee Mopar Motorsports, phone is the best way to get a hold of us as neither of us in on the board everyday. I would post it but don't want spammers getting their hands on it.

We can do the 60k for around $250 labor, no markup on parts.
AWD trans swap or clutch is around $350 labor.

Yes it's true I'm still around :)

Took a different job last year that tried to steal my soul, but it's kinda under control now.

Contact info is same as it was before.

2200 for 60K? Yikes, don't ever go back there.

Any updates on trusted local shops in the Chicago/Lincolnwood/Skokie/Niles area that anyone knows of for the vr4?

I just got a right front wheel bearing assm, powering steering flush, spark plugs/wires, and a throttle body cleaning for $967.13 at nick and ernie's. I did the research, I know that was too much, just dont know of any trusted shops.

I have used autowerks twice. Once to lower my car and once to change my pads/rotors/get tints. They let me buy my own parts and only charged labor. $916.48 total in labor (parts for tints). Again I think it was too much.

Any shop that will do oil changes, if we buy our own synthetic oil? Napleton Mitsubishi charges way too much, I believe over $100

I have also tried going to the Drivers Image, very expensive as well and don't know if I can trust them with the vr4.

Any help??

My 3000GT is in a dire need of TLC. The drive-train behavior is totally unpredictable nowadays. The car was built back in 2008 by Jeff B. / Milwaukee, but I haven't heard from him in years. Do you have any recommendations on where to take it in Chicagoland?
