I've notice that on my VR-4, when it's getting close to redline at WOT, what sounds like it's coming from the transmission will start to let out a high pitch squeel. I say transmission mainly because I've known other higher power cars to do the same. I was just reading an article about a 300zx TT that had the same problem because of gear oil choice.

Now I don't know what I have for gear oil in my car, just have what it came with when I bought the thing. That was over a year ago and the tranny has about 5k on it.

Any credibility to my assumptions? I can try and find out what's in the car, but has anyone else experienced this? What brand/type/weight did you switch to in order to fix the problem?

Try using the Red Line gear oil....I am not using it right now, but I hear its good....

yea id chnage the fluid out.....put some redline or GM synchromesh in there. i have redline in mine and have no problems.

I get a screaming from the back of the car at high-RPM, WOT. It has always happened, stock turbos or DR500s. Cats or no.

It's sound of the exhaust screaming through the turbines. :devil:

Mine only started doing it after I had the car for about a year. Thought it was because I had a hose pop off from my boost controller, but I fixed that and it didn't go away.
