I've noticed a few times that right after a cold start (ie, in the morning) if I pull out right away without letting the car warm up it will make a VERY unhappy sound the first time I shift it from 1st to 2nd (or 3rd, though 3rd isn't as bad). That nice "GRRRZZZ!" sound. It's only if it's a cold start though, and within 5 minutes of driving it goes away. I'm assuming it's just because the tranny fluid needs to get coated over everything, but it cannot be healthy for the syncros. Is there a recommended tranny fluid anyone uses that minimizes this?

it shouldnt take too long to get it to get all over the gears.....just drive a little down your street in first and dont shift to second immediately.

or even better.....let it sit in the garage for 5 mins before drivign....if its in neutral the tranny is still spinning and should get oil all over the gears.
