The EURO love build (pic heavy!)

First off, i dont want everyone waiting for the result. I just got a new job and it requires me to be in Texas for the next two months. Im hoping to finally be driving it in Oktober 2010.
But i thought id post up what ive been doing for the last year and a half.
This build has been full of suprises and new goals.

Thanks everyone that answered my questions, from vendors to members!

Things i discovered my 1st gen came with stock:
Forged crank, front washer tank, 13G turbo's.

The goal now is to just get her running again and me falling in love with the car again before i mod it some more.

The Story:
I bought the car back in januari 2007 and ive enjoyed it for two years as 1 of 36 original Dutch cars. Then, in 2009 (Problem started in 2008) i decided to stop messing around and thoroughly overhaul this engine.
The car kept overheating on me after numerous times of trying to fix it.

I replaced: waterpump, timingbelt, thermostat, rad cap, radiator, cooling fins.
I tested for: Compression, leaking headgaskets, leaking other gaskets, blockage, flushed the system twice.

When i drove it the last time, i made sure weather was good, music was right, traffic was low, speed was high and my smile was huge!

Mods now: (will be updated as i go and remember other stuff)
3SX Rods
Forged Wiseco Pistons
ETS Front mount
HKS SSQV blow off valve
Crank vents
Maximal Solids and Transfercase bracket
Bob's (oohnoo) fuel system

Test pipe
Dynamic Racing downpipe
Dejon "no maf" dual intakes
MAFT-Pro in Speed Density
Greddy Profec B spec II Boostcontroller
Scanmaster 3
Tyler's (Bigtyla) Groundwire and hotwire kit
Battery mounted in the trunk
Koyo Radiator
Flexalite fans
Setrab oilcooler
Upgraded Radiator Hoses
AEM UEGO Wideband O2
AC Delete (thanks 3SI!)
Front windshield washers supplied by rear tank.

The pictures I took along the way:
This is what i started out with:

Taken in May 2008, at a Meeting in Holland (De Meern, AC restaurant)

The engine i started with as the long rebuild period kicked off in 2009.
The steel y-pipe and HKS bov were my earlier additions to the car.

The last day she still had all her parts, nearly stock.

The teardown has begun!

Bumper gone, Suprise! A "99 only" washer tank! (used for the headlights)

Getting there! Couldnt get the rear mount off, bolts were all turned to crud, had to take off the rear head to get the grinder down there.

Finally its out! Now i could really see how dirty everything was, the bay is covered in gunk.

The kitchen finally being put to good use.

The bay ready for refurbished, cleaned, upgraded and new parts!

Dirty old heads, had these decked and cleaned

Took out the subframe and cleaned the most of the bay as weather finally allowed it again.

Painted the subframe, engine bay was spotless for the best part at this time.

Now, the car was starting to fight back, but i kept my cool and ran far away from the powerless body to work on the engine.
First it was bored, honed and cleaned.

And this was the result after that. My previous results with this high temp resistant paint were great, so im using it again (Rustoleum HardHat)

Summer was to an end, i lost inspiration, one last carshow to attent in 2009. Without the 3000GT, but i stumbled on this beauty! Instant love rekindle!
(Japanse autofestival Assen 2009)

More parts painted and cleaned, more high temp paint and primer, money was running low because of this stuff.

Finally my stuff to mount the gauges and other stuff arrived, i was particulary fond of this piece, goes in the glove box, thanks to Weevil.

Long block back together, couldnt use this fully equipped kitchen any more, parts were all over.

Aaaah! More or less complete, victory!!

The other side of the engine, more interesting than the covered timing side IMHO.

Winter was in full effect, the engine wasnt going through the snow, so the waiting and ordering more parts time arrived.

Parts from Dynamic Racing arrive! Unfortunately the people of the mail couldnt carry it? I could thank god.
The Intercooler and some other stuff inside that box, it was huge! Thanks Matt!

The weather changed and got the engine in there finally! Started mounting the intercooler a tiny bit.

Yay! The fuel lines finally arrive! This has been long anticipated, had to bother Bob for nearly a year with more members than just me i guess. But the kit looks great and i loved the little gift that came with it. Thanks Bob!

Fuel system mounted as i was mocking up the FMIC kit, happy with the results!

More mocking up, with the intakes and some other stuff i couldnt remember.

Almost ready for the bumper to go back on, finally taking some shape, even others could see progress ;)

This wasnt going to go on without a fight, had to hack up the alu crash bar (can live with that) But also had to hack up the inside of the bumper. But got away with that, you cant see it if you dont know it.

Eurospec front bumper. Always loved it.

You pulled the engine with the trans still attached to the car. That's odd. You can pull both attached as one unit out thru the top. Makes in and out easier I think.

I know chris, but the trans just wouldnt budge for some reason.
I got fed up after trying for an hour and just pulled the engine on its own and the trans after that.

Thanks for the interest!

You didn't paint the entire PTU bracket (under the PTU) did you? If so, strip it.

Thanks Guys! Appreciate it!

No Chris i didnt :) I know the bottom (silver stuff) has to be connected to bare metal, or atleast i figured that it needs to be.
Good eye. So many times we get cars in the shop that have it fully painted.

It actually never came with a stache, just a clean red front bumper.
Was fully stock when i bought it.

Nice front mount, i also thought about getting it anodized black.

Yeah, stock turbo's (13G's) But like i said on top, just to get it running again when i get back. When its running okay ill look at other turbo's.
