so how about cosmetics.. what spark plugs do you guys use on your 3.5 and what oil, how many qts. im just curious. i've always put in around 4 but just curious if there is a specific amount.

Recommended plug is a platinum BKR5EIX-11. I use normal coppers so I use BKR5ES-11
What oil, 15w-60 in summer and a 10w-40 in winter.
Oil, about 4.5L with filter.

There are so many difference's I don't know where to start...first of all they face the wrong way and are SOHC to name a few easy ones.

You need a DOHC 24v 6G74 out of a Pajero or PREFERABLY A debonair. If it's a debonair FWD motor it will bolt in.

Thanks for that saved me some head aches didnt realise the magna was a sohc do u no the tollerance and how to rebuild the transfer do u have to shim it up?? if u no of a link for that would be very helpfull thanks

They certainly will mate! I am using all 3L SOHC 12v engine mounts on mine, all work like a charm!

OK, They did not both come in FWD. Pajero/Montero was a RWD based engine. So based on that it's very easy to identify the different motors.

The pajero makes less power as being a 4WD it needs it's torque more. High power in a 4WD is useless.

Debonair engine looks EXACTLY like your normal 3L FWD 3000GT engine, simply put, with 3500 on the intake manifold, not 3000.

The pajero one looks 100 times different. Very easy to tell.

of course not. you can put it in a TT with a slight modification to the oil pan to make it clear the t/case

I was reading the cam specs. It looks like the 72 heads have a little higher cam height and the springs are taller than the 74. What do you think? Valves are the same.

Incorrect. the heads are 100% the same. I have double checked almost all part numbers. They are all identical according to ASA. This is for identical year engines though so this doesn't apply to anything from 91-late 94

Does anyone know if the accessory belts/power steering tensioner pully for the debonair 6g74 are the same as the 6g72 dohc?

The ACC belt is longer.
Power steering tensioner PULLEY is the same, the bracket it bolts to is different however

Just narrow the 74 girdle and run a 4 bolt 72 TT oil pan. Works perfect. (Thanks for showing is the way Ray P!)
