I am looking at getting a new downpipe for my car and I have a quick question. The one I am looking at eliminates the front cat, but not the rear cat. I plan on gutting the rear cat eventually.

Will it harm anything to have a much more free flowing exhaust on the front and the restrictive rear cat. Am I better holding off installing the DP until I can gut the rear cat??

You will have less backpressure on the front bank than the back. This should cause no problems in normal driving. You will not see full benefit of the downpipe until rear is gutted. Why not gut the rear while you have the stock downpipe off to install the new? The hardest part is getting the old one off!
