The pictures don't do any justice
The color is really neat
It's not black but its a deep graphite in the sunlight
The tops are painted black
The body is 1 single coat hammered
After primer
Both took one single can
I bought 2 cans
Well I do have some down time let's replace some defrost vents

I'll come back and fine tune the cardboard to fit to the extended edge of the stretched defrost hole in the dash from over the years to match it perfectly

Could do diamond plated thin aluminum
Scored with green scotch brite and clear coated so I won't get any chalky corrosion / oxidation
Same as what i did for my radiator brackets i made
Think that's gonna be my best bet
something easy enough to work with as well
Getting in this tight spot will be a fun job
but i should be able to handle it without ripping the dash out
Just gotta cut some notches where factory screw are in the plastic so I can slide some small toggle like nuts in there and snug it back up with an angled screwdriver
I'll make it happen while I'm waiting on parts
Got a 3 farad cap coming to for the sound system
Little system back there on 2ohms is pulling some power
Rather not see night time driving
That an keep everything from clipping

Remove old vents and notched the holes so I can slide the bolts and nuts in when I go to reinstall
At a stand still on the way I want the vent holes to look like
I don't have anything I can press with
to pop some holes in it
Thought about taking a scrap piece of iron rectangular tubing sharpening it up and using a hammer to punch holes
My luck it will get bent it all to hell and back
So my last option is the use of a cutting disc on my dremel and measuring lines drawn down at different angles to produce vent holes
Probably be my best bet right now
For the limit of specialty tools so it doesn't look like crap

Waiting on my 2 Farad capacitor to arrive to feed my amplifier
Thats not that important at the moment

I received my T case billet breather in today
My hands free floor mount to hold my ipod touch so I can listen to my tunes while I shift gears
(Phone will be blue toothed to the deck for incoming calls)
Ipod hooked on AUX (headphone jack)
While USB plug will be used to charge it
Time to get to work

Going to extend the hose all the way up to the driver side strut tower and mount this little reservoir
also have some plans for it gonna need some tweaking done to the res
so it can breath and not collect trash either
so I'll post back when things are done and in

Getting the vents bent down before I go to cut the panels out double checking measurements making sure I get this right the first time
Think I'm gonna ruff them up with a green scotch brite / primer them
Use this last can of Hammered rust-oleum give them a nice gloss imperfection cover up spray instead of just high temp clear coating them

Install this res and cap over by the brake master cylinder

They are cut slightly larger from the cardboard templates so I can fine sand them in
They are cut out and here they are ruff'D in

Got some brass nuts and bolts to hold them down
Gonna look great when I put some paint on them

Picked up some filter foam while I ran to go get the brass nuts and bolts for the vents

If you zoom in they are not aligned
Found out the center of my dash is dry rot as well 😑
Actually, NO ONE (except you) will ever notice -- esp if you paint them matte black like Razith suggests. Trouble is that now that you find it bothersome, it will always attract your eye to it and devil you forever.
I'm thinking about maybe just drilling a series of holes rather than the slits -- although your idea is very ingenious!
BTW, how did you fasten the grills down to the dash? It looks like the grills pulled the dash down pretty well, right?
Did you use those spring loaded toggle bolts like you use for hanging pix on drywall?
