Rebuild or replace short block

My 1991 VR4 spun a bearing last year. I will be getting a new oil cooler and lines, rebuilding the turbos, flushing everything, etc. Long-term project for me. I am close to pulling the engine and deciding on whether to get my own short block rebuilt with a forged crank (is donniekak still doing this?) so that the numbers still match, or getting a new 2-bolt short block (can they still be found?), or getting a rebuilt short block from somewhere else. No plans to upgrade for more power, I just want a clean running engine again. Thanks for any advice.
