Rear window trim removal

3329 Views 9 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Northern GT
Does anyone know a good way to remove the rear window trim without breaking it? It’s coming off on the edges and I’d like to remove it and refinish it. Trying not to break things since they are hard to find.

Thanks!

I used a flat head to remove mine. You are going to need new clips.

Thanks Destroyer
Unless my eyes are deceiving me (at 64 they often do), it looks as if you've already bent it?

Damn, parts are getting crazy expensive!

This is the cheapest I found it new (and it might not be available..)

You guys are awesome. The video helps a lot. I like how the first thing he says is not to do it.
Bob, yes it is bent but it’s not terribly I’m hoping I can finesse it back into shape but I’m not crossing my fingers. Probably will just order a new trim piece and all of the clips.

Hey Destroyer I got the bottom off without a problem, and the piece is still straight. Do you know if the top piece is removed in the same manner?

Joe has a video removing the top piece as well. I slipped a trim tool under the top piece and pryed it up. I broke almost every clip but it doesnt matter since the clips are cheap and easy to replace.

As Angelas said, Joe is the go to guy for all things 3000GT?GTO. He has lots of videos that are well narrated and include all the info to do almost anything on our cars.
