Questions about Palm Pilot and PocketLogger

I know it doesn't matter if you have an m100 or an m505 for datalogging but would it be worth getting an m500 instead of the m105 if I can get it for about $250. I have a friend that works at OfficeMax and he's gonna get me a good deal on one. Is it worth spending the extra money to get the expansion slot, color screen and the Palm OS 4.0 software?

Now for the PocketLogger questions. I went to the site and looked at the FAQ's and it said it would work with "some" 93's. I plan on getting a 4-bolt 1st gen vr-4/tt in the future and I would like to know why is it "some"? Was there a mid-year change and they began using the 94-95 hybrid OBDII?

If you're only using the palm for datalogging, it would be a waste to get an M500. The color 505 is a waste too. If you plan to use it for work and other things, then I'd go for it. Would you be getting the 500 or the 505 for $250?

The real nice things about the M5xx series are the magnesium case and the rechargable internal batteries. It's small light, so you can actually carry it in your pocket, unlike the M100s. I had a Palm V (predecessor to the M5xx) and I love it, but then it got stolen :(

The PL or TMO will work with any 3S car that has the OBDI style diagnostic port AND ECM connectors. I am not aware that any 1993 model has OBDII-style connectors. My web page below shows how you can get a look at the ECM connectors. Your service manuals have details also. But don't worry about it; you have a '91-'93 (right?) ECM and wiring harness - the block makes no difference whatsoever.

It would be the m500. I was thinking about getting this one because its expandable with the games and 16mb memory card. Right now its not a necessity for the extra features but it would be nice to have and I would probably start using some of the extra features.

Thanks for the help guys.

Below is from the FAQ's page on the PocketLogger site.

Q: What cars does PocketLOGGER for DSMs work with?
A: PocketLOGGER is compatible with:
1990 to 1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse and Galant VR4, Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser
1990 to 1992 and some 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GTs and Dodge Stealth.
It does NOT support 1995+ cars. Check out our PocketLOGGER for OBDII, which will support most newer Japanese, European, and Chrysler cars.
These guys are using production dates, not model years. There are no 1990 3S cars here stateside (may be some off shore) but 1991 cars were made in 1990. Trust me, go by the OBDI diagnostic port and ECU connectors. The engine year makes no difference.
Oh okay. DUH! I didn't even think of that. That makes a lot more sense. Thanks Jeff.
