I was on my way home from school (north on M-24 south of Lake Orion) when a late 80's camaro pulls up next to me. I'm like, this looks familiar... I look inside and see it is the kid from my programming class! Remembering how much shit he talks about his car, I decide to put him in place... He knows about my car and say that no 3.0L V6 can run w/ American V8. Say nows our chance. After getting his attention he seems pretty eager to run. He doesn't rev at all (because he has an auto and must be afraid to brake-torque), and I'm rev happy around 5K. I drop the clutch and get about 4 cars on him by 2nd!!! Lol, by 3rd gear I dont' see him any more and slow down due to traffic. Later on he comments that "my carbuerator wasn't opening up". I laugh and say, and "my turbos weren't spooled...". Anyways, it was fun. On a side note, my car (stealth) is out of commision due to antifreeze leak. While I have this apart, I was going to change my timing belt and water pump. Does anyone live around the Rochester, Lake Orion, Oxford, Lapeer area that would want to help me out? I'll buy em' dinner and let them drive the car!!

My fiance had a 80's camero with a 305. That engine had somewhere between little and no power for all that displacement.

Hehe.. I had a buddy with a `94 Z28. We were scooting around town, looking for races, when we came upon this mid/late 80's grey Camaro RS. We lined up at this intersection, light turned green, and we got the jump on him. We made it through 1st with him behind us, but when we hit second, he shot past us like we were standing still.

At the next intersection I rolled down the window and asked what he did to the car. He had a roller cam, lifters, and a nitrous kit installed.

He offered to run w/o the nitrous. It was the same deal, he just didn't drag us as dramatically as he did on the spray. :)

My buddy's pride was busted up pretty bad... he hated the 3rd gen F-bodies.

Wow, that's something to fear!!! What a sleeper too :( Fortunately, this one was slow as piss. The Escort may have given him a run with his "carbuerator not opening up" :)

nice kill mustang, hehe thats a new excuse "my carbuerater didn't open up" i haven't heard that one before. That is suprising that your little 3.0 V6 took his badass american V8

Yeah, not ALL 70's F-Bodies are slow ;) Just avoid the ones that shake the ground ( or move your pants leg ) when they idle.

He was probably talking about the secondaries in his 4 barrel carb not opening up. If he has a Quadrajet carb ( Q-Jet ), its quite common when they get old and havent been rebuilt in a while.

I have heard some that almost made me wet my pant leg before......

Almost had a good story for you fanatic, was going to test drive a brand new 02 Cobra while in Rockford visiting my girl, but I got the flu and couldnt muster the strength to go see it. I assume that a loaded 2000 Grand Am GT would make a sufficient downpayment on one :)

dunno what dad would say tho

Wow, I'm proud of you StangsSuck, if you got a Cobra that would be really cool!!! An SS and an SVT...nice. However, if you wait till 2003 or 2004, they are supposed to bring back the 5.0 w/ 4 valve/cylinder heads. I think aluminum block too, it all rumor though. Ford is promising 350+ horsepower though (finally a stang w/ some balls!!!). What does your Maro run on the quarter? W/ all my mods, I barely touch 13's....pathetic...

that rumor is looking like it just might become a reality. Mercury unvailed their newest ride to become a production model at this years SEMA show. it's called the Marauder(sp?). it's basically a grand marquis with some decent rims/rubber, lowered in the front w/ a pretty mean looking grill/headlight setup and, here's the kick in the nutz, a 5.0l pushing 300hp/310tq.
