Yes, I did it myself. It is relatively easy. You need to take off the downpipe (the bolt on the rear precat is the biggest pain in the ass). After that there are 5 ~ 17mm bolts that connect the transfer case to the tranny. Basically you slide the driveshaft on first and then bolt up the 5 bolts. It took me a total of an hour and a half to put it together. About 20 minutes of that was getting that 1 downpipe bolt on. I also have an air compressor and air tools which made it a bit easier. Hope this helps you out.

Yes...... I also have 2 hydraulic floor jacks so I can lift each side of the car. It really helps out. I suggest that everyone who doesn't own a floor jack go get one. They are only like $40 at Sam's club or any auto parts store. Makes for easy oil changes also.

I've gotten to where I can change the oil without needing a jack. I guess it's just a matter of knowing exactly where the oil plug and filter are. I still get oil all over my hands, of course, but that happened when I used a jack too

I lied.....

I don't use floor jacks or jack stands. When the time comes I pull this out and that takes care of the problem.....

I never said I babied the car. I did say I have had several performance cars and I drove them all hard. I do not abuse them but I dont baby them either. Whats the point of having a fast car if you dont use it? Like having a pretty girfriend and only getting handjobs... screw that. ( pardon my pun ) I do however take good care of my cars. I have never had any car that had as many problems as this Stealth. I think if you start taking a close look at this board you will see that Transmissions and engines DO fail at 82k miles in these cars. Is it your contention that anyone who has had an engine or transmission fail under 100k miles "beat the shit out of it" ? Well?? I think it is, let me Quote you

"engines do not fail at 82,000 miles, and have to replace two transmissions and transfer cases if the car has not been beat to shit."

I suggest you start adding up dead transmissions and locked up transfer cases from these threads. Dont make me start looking for spun main bearing threads. Please tell me and the other 150 plus people on this board with one or more failed getrag transmissions how its our poor driving habits and NOT the design.

What exactly is the main baring, and how do you know when it's spun? Does this happen a lot in turbo and N/A cars?

Also, I never got an answer on where you guys put your jack stands.

output shaft hardning

So exactly how are the shafts hardened??Because you could send the shaft off to get it cyrogenicly(sp?) frozen which would increase the internal density of the shaft.This would be the most efficent way to"harden"the output shaft.

On the road again....

I'm a happy boy. I got the rebuilt Kormex transfer case this morning and put it in. All was fine on the test drive. My baby is on the road again after a 4 day break.

Player~My rebuilt transfer case came with a 90 day warranty from Kormex. Hopefully I won't need to use it (fingers crossed).
