About 2 or 3 years ago, a local radio station gave away a new house. I think it was valued at about $105,000.00

Don't know how Canadian tax laws work, but down here in the States a "free" prize like this is taxed as income. Not fun. Plus, if you try to sell it to pay the taxes you get hit w/instant depreciation.abax44 said:What is the coolest thing your local radio station has ever given away? Today our local rock station (Power 97) gave away a brand new Dodge Viper. The contest lasted for about 2 months. Each day they gave away $500 cash ($20000 total) and a key to the car. Whoever had the key that started the car won it. Not too bad for a little Canadian city, eh? Last year they gave away a new 'vette, the year before that it was a boxter and the two years before that it was a truck with a garage and tools. A free Viper, that'd be sweet.
