What is the coolest thing your local radio station has ever given away? Today our local rock station (Power 97) gave away a brand new Dodge Viper. The contest lasted for about 2 months. Each day they gave away $500 cash ($20000 total) and a key to the car. Whoever had the key that started the car won it. Not too bad for a little Canadian city, eh? Last year they gave away a new 'vette, the year before that it was a boxter and the two years before that it was a truck with a garage and tools. A free Viper, that'd be sweet.

About 2 or 3 years ago, a local radio station gave away a new house. I think it was valued at about $105,000.00

Don't know how Canadian tax laws work, but down here in the States a "free" prize like this is taxed as income. Not fun. Plus, if you try to sell it to pay the taxes you get hit w/instant depreciation.
Still, would be nice to say that I owned a Viper once . . . ;)
The Viper was valued at $131 000(CDN) taxes included.

In Canada we don't get taxed on winnings. I'm not to sure about selling it but, I don't think we get taxed on that either.
Yea, taxes are a bitch. Radio station gives away 105 dollars if you they spot you at certain times in certain places, and you have a sticker on the car. Umm....tickets to concerts and stuff thats about all.
Our local grocery(Kroger) gave away a Jeep Wrangler(sponsered by bud)
and a Prowler(forgot who it was sponsored by)
So that was pretty interesting.
