So on my 97 vr4 whenever you push it towards 4,000-5,000rpms you can hear the turbos make something like a “s-s-s-s” sound instead of a normal spool. It sounds fine low end but anytime you try to go beyond that it’ll start making that sound. Boost reading should be set at 10psi with a MBC just to see how the turbos act and ofc it’s a slow climb for it to go to 10psi during high end. Also rarely, when you push it too hard it’ll bog down, kinda like a fuel cut or a IC pipe fell off. It didn’t start doing until recently and there’s a noticeable difference in power. The turbos that are installed are TEC 13g’s with stock injectors and stock ecu.

First thing I checked if there was any IC piping that were loose or popped off and they all looked tight and fine. Planning to do a boost leak test just to be safe, but I decided to check other stuff first. Next was the fuel, so I checked if all the injector clips were actually tight because some of the clips were old and a little cracked so I replaced all the clips and as well as the injectors to FIC 650cc with the new clips that were rewired to the FICs. I also took a look at the spark plugs and all of them were gaped somewhere around .040, so I re-gaped them to .030. I checked wiring as well and everything looked fine besides the questionable wiring near the fuel injector clips which I replaced.

After that I put everything back and test drove it and it’s still making that “sss” noise and as well has it not making proper boost and power. I’m now wondering if it just might be the stock ecu that can’t compensate for everything put on it. Any feedback would help a lot, and if you need any more info feel free to ask

Perform the pressure-test properly for boost leaks and report back - should have been first on your list. Any further discussion is moot.
