what mods would it take to run a 110+ MPH traps? is it attainable on the stock 9b's?

Intake, downpipe, no cats, no spare/jack/toolkit, cat back, Blow off valve, gapped down stock plugs, 100 octane race gas, and disconnected wategates should barely do it.

Ahh the old pull the wastegates trick eh Trevor??? Lol ... gotta love it. :)

I'd think you would want to run 110 if you are gonna do that ... because those 9b's will peak at 18 or even higher. Might also want to hotwire your pump while your at it ... but after all that ... yeah a properly running car do 110's

waste gates

Why disconnect the waste gates.
Wouldnt this be bad for the turbo.

No it's potentially bad for the engine, but not the turbo. The turbo could care less if the waste gates are open or not. When you disconnect the gates they will remain closed meaning all the pressure will go to the turbo. This will mean the turbo will spool to maximum capacity ... which is about an 18psio peak on 9b's. It's possibly bad for your engine (if you cant supply the fuel), but the turbos wont care.

I am at 107mph right now. The 107mph runs were in 92deg air temp weather on just BPU mods (mods are in sig). I honestly think that I can almost hit 110mph (or damn close to it) in the cooler weather on 93 pump gas @ 15psi. I will let you know after I get to the track. I feel rather sure that if I get a lightened flywheel and Carbon Fiber Driveshaft that I can do it in the warmer weather as well while keeping my BPU mods.

Anyone actually pull 110 with these mods? I know
Jason Barnhart made several 109 passes with the same
mods and some good weather. Trevor's(or other '95-96
Stealths) would have a good chance at that speed with
the lower weight. Rich(Nightmare) pulled 113 mph but
added fuel control, carbon fiber driveshaft and tuning.
Rich said he shifted at ~6000 rpm or earlier on his better
trap speed runs.

My 9b's peaked at 20lbs on 93octane stock fuel system in 85 degree weather. Im not saying it would work for everyone but it did for me. But the turbos are so crappy that its really only good for first gear cause then it produces only hot air which doenst do any good. Funny thing is im still running rich. I have my boot controller set at 1.20 bar right now and i can actually waste 5 bucks worth of gas in a matter of 5 minutes driving at 150 heheh

I ran 108.44mph while running 15 psi peak on 91 octane with just BPU mods. The only weight I dropped off the car was the spare/jack/toolkit. Still had the stock 28 lb chrome rims on it. I'm sure it would have ran 110 with some better gas and the hair more boost pulling the wastegates would give it.

Guys, can you be specific about your mods and times? I'm having trouble breaking 13.6!! with these mods, I'm thinking that I have bad plugs/wires/fuel filter/etc? Dunno.

Best time: 13.5 @ 103
3.5k launch

'91 Stealth TT, 35k miles
Improved precats
Apexi AVC-R at 1.2bar
HKS SSBOV
HKS Dual exhaust
FIPK
Triad Alcohol Injection (new, not well tuned I would bet)
Cusco Strut Bar
Konig Flight wheels (5lbs lighter than stock, each)
6 speed tranny
RPS Stage II, stock flywheel
stock turbos, intercoolers, y-pipe, etc.

Thanks!!

12.6 @ 112 ???? I thought that the 360 injectors are what were holding us back, so the AFC wouldn't be that much help. Am I wrong? Cause that would be amazing if I could just throw an AFC on and run 110+ traps. Someone please let me know, I'm intrigued.

Dustin,
I went through my old Turbo mags and couldn't find
it. What issue is it in? I only have back to 1995. Before
that I only have random months to 1993.

****Ken,
Don't worry about the 13.6. Go by your trap speed.
103 could just be the result of stock gap plugs, elevation
of the track or even a really hot and humid day. A 103
would put a full weight car at ~350 hp at the crank so
that is low for your mods if everything is in good tune.
The 110+ trap speed stories are more urban legend than
not with a few notable exceptions. Rich(Nightmare) did
it with fuel management and dyno tuning and hard driving.
Trevor(or a car as light as his) could certainly have done
it on race fuel and hard driving. Jason Barnhart has hit 109+
3 times with race gas and very aggressive driving. All three
were on the same 50 deg night so weather certainly helped.
Of all the 3S cars I have seen raced over the years, most
trap at 105-108 in BPU trim. Race gas may help but even
the people who cap the wastegate and use race fuel run
in the 107-108 range in most situations.
Since the above is based only on what I've seen or run
myself it may be incorrect. Does anyone have actual runs
of 110+(preferably more than 1 isolated run) at BPU?

It was 80-85F out when I ran my 12.65 & 108.44 mph @ BPU on 91 octane. It was run at Thunder Valley Raceway Park in Oklahoma City which I think is around 1000' elevation. Race weight was 3556lbs (they have a scale there).

3556 lbs! My "PIG" tipped at 3805 plus my lardy self.
The last year Stealths really are the way to go from a
performance standpoint. On a good cool day at sea level
and some of your current weight reduction you may very
well have hit 110mph at 15lbs on pump gas. A [email protected]
street car with all the dependability of factory parts is very
enticing indeed. Especially when you can put down that
power just about any time or place. I still like the looks of
my "Pearl Pig" better though.:D
