I'd like to contribute. I'll start setting up.

I'll work on "big number mode"

3S mode in pocket logger is just 10 degrees less than DSM mode.

Its the only scaling difference that I have found.

I went through my logs and compared values at 15 different timestamps within the log, both at idle and while driving and found the difference between the DSM mode and 3/S mode was *exactly* 12 degrees of timing every time.

My testing shows exactly 10 degrees, everytime. I wonder if there was a change in the PL software. My testing was done on the bench with an ECU.

I got my Pocketlogger software last September.

Are you sure you highlighted a few items to log? I think perhaps MMCd needs an error message if no items are selected. This has happened to a couple people here on the board.

The more recent Sony PDA's (SJ22's included) require external power supplied to their serial port. They get it from the handshaking pins in the serial cable which many logging cables do not support.

Which logger cable do you have? Which serial sync cable?

You can probably make it work by modifying the logger cable.

For sure it will work using Clint's HS gadget or the Scanmaster, both of which power the serial port as well as run at higher baudrates.

I have a SJ22 and it works excellently with the Scanmaster.

I have not tried the technomotive cable. But the power wire should make it work........

You will need a "null modem" adapter (reverses pins 2 and 3, as well as others) to make it work. If you are in there, look for power on pin 4, if there is none, run 12 volts thru a ~1k resistor and feed it to pin 4.

I think......

hallo,

anyone hit the problem same as me in v1.5d, v1.6f, v1.6m & v1.6n running MMCd in Sony Clie SJ-22/H or /U, if open & close MMCd arround over 30 times, SJ-22/H halted. (pls see attachment) but after reset PDA, I can use it again.
Yup, there's a bug. If you count, it will always fail on the 15th try.

Is the latest source posted? The problem is a loose memory handle on the bigfont resource. Should be an easy fix.

What he means is why does MMCd display a different stored and active code.

I believe the active code gets stored to history immediately, so if the fault condition is intermittant, you will for sure see the history bit.

Interestingly, the 41 bit and the 14 bit are in the same bit positions in the opposite fault byte. Perhaps MMCd is reversing the byte order for either the active or stored code.....

worth investigating...

Ok, as a test can you unplug the TPS and see what codes get shown on MMCd?

My car is in a million pieces right now, or I'd do it.

Most data, you don't need a peak hi and a peak lo. Just one.

They are pdb. Which flavor pdb, I don't know.

I believe you can run the Palm OS Emulator (POSE) thru the PC serial port and run MMCd connected to the Scanmaster. I have not tried it (but should work......)

after trying multiple baud rates I got the software to communicate so I can see rpm and tps moving now. In the ECU overlock section I chose the highest setting, not sure which I have, bob said he put it to 8300 but I said I've never seen more than 7030 on my car in the past, not the 7300 everyone else claims, so he said I might see 8100 in that case. I flashed it up to 8430 and didn't hit the rev limiter before I chickened out.

the car runs fine but on the way home while cruising, the check engine light comes on suddenly. I didn't have MMCD loaded on the palm yet and the gauges looked good, the e-manage is happy so I figure it's something trivial like baro. I get home, load up MMCD and tell it to read the cel's and it says there isn't one. Maybe I simply missed a step, I'm a newb with MMCD. any tips?
Your ECU was overclocked 15.2%......

Configure dSb (data Substitution battery) to 1

Then the battery voltage reading on MMCd will actually be your AFR.

on second thought, i suppose i could set the dsb to 1 and leave the os parameter where it is as, allowing the scanmaster to still display the wbo2 and mmcd to see it as battery voltage :)

hrm *hits jeff's site to check scanmaster manual*
This is how I have mine....

I just use the hotsync as a backup. I do all my viewing on the palm......

I use the palm emulator to view logs sometimes, but thats kind of a pain.

Its basically what you've outlined, with the output divided by a pair of 2.49K resistors.

I think the pullup in the ECU for the EGRT is probably 2 or 3K, so a little messing around in Excel will yield the calibration details.

I will be adding this to the Scanmaster options soon....

We use this with the MAFT Pro, Gen-II, and PowerLogger

I have the details here somewhere,

I don't have this in the scanmaster yet, just in the MAFT Pro and Gen-II. In these the input is a 47K pulldown, so my calibration won't be right.

You can determine the pullup experimentally, connect a 1K resistor from EGRT to ground and see what the ECU reads.
