Killed a Diablo

For about 30 seconds last night I was the tallest man in the world. As you can see from my sig, I only drive a BPU Z-24, and I in no way think that it is fast. But last night, as me and my GF were leaving the movies, I saw a freakin Lamborgini Diablo roll by across the road. I'm thinkin, "ok, now that is cool". So I punch it to get across the road and catch up to get a better look.
We get stopped at a light with me 2 cars back and to the right of him. It was 11:30, and there weren't very many street lights, so I couldn't really see the car very well, but from what I could see it was SWEET. Looked like it was a dark blue, had some nice rims, and had a girl riding in the passenger side.
When we took off from the light, I thought, "Man, I would think a Lamborgini would sound better than that", but I shrugged off the thought and kept trying to catch up. 2 more lights down I pull in behind him in the same lane, and I can see that we are going to get stopped at the next light, and that he is going to be on the line. So I of course pull some kind of Dukes of Hazard move to get into the next lane beside him.
When I got there, I was not quite sure what i was gonna do. At first I rolled down my window and checked the car out. Man it looked pretty good, although they are a lot smaller than I thought they were. So after a few seconds, I think to myself "It's a good night to get really embarassed", so i rev my motor. At first the guy didn't even notice(hey, it's a 90 cavalier for cryin out loud) But then the girl in the pass. side nudged him and he looked over. At first he just laughed and waved me off, but I am not to be discouraged. The light goes green, and I can see that he is not biting, so i just roll off with him, in wait of another light. We both pull up on the line again, so of course I rev again.
This time He looks at me and rev's back. So I'm like "Yes, this is gonna be great. I'm gonna get my a** kicked, but I just wanna see him take off the line!"

So here goes, the light goes green, I spin off, he spins off, and to my surprise, for about the first 50 yards I pull away from him. I'm thinking "O.k., maybe he dumped the clutch too fast and he sat there and spun for a while. But even after 50 yards, he was barely making up the ground. By the time I hit 85 - 90, a 1/4 had passed, and the guy was ON MY REAR BUMPER.

I HAD BEAT HIM!!!!!!! I am sitting there, not really sure what to do with myself, when we both slow down to legal speeds, and I see him put on his blinker to pull into a gas station. So I pull in begind hime to gloat or something, I wasn't sure what. As I got out of my car and walked up to his car he was gettin out too. The guy smiled at me and said "CONGRATULATIONS, YOU JUST BEAT A FIERO!
Come to find out the stupid thing was one of those body kits you install ona fiero, and it had basically the stock motor, with only BPU.(the biggest being an exhaust)
Oh well, it was good while it lasted.....

oh LOL, sorry man!! Now that I've made an ass out of myself, I'll just get going. I've seen that body kit too, I should have remembered that :) Good race, didn't mean to knock your ride. (I tried to get a Z-24 instead of my escort.)

Mustang,

ewwww. What an ego killer. God, I bet it was sweet while it lasted. I have never seen those kits for a ferio. Must not look too bad. Oh well, good kill...to say the least

Depending on whick kit it is, They look real good. At Carlisle this year they had quite a few rebodies, one of which I could in no way tell it started life as a Fiero. Frames get stretched 11 inches, a pillars get chopped- there's a lot more to these than you'd think. A great deal of these have a longitudinally mid mounted small block Chevys mated to a Porsche transaxle. Even a few LS1 powered cars are floating around the show world.

I can't think of any sites off the top of my head for the body kits, but check out for http://heldmotorsports.com/cradle.htm the F1 style rear suspension and engine tranny swap.

Fieros do not sound like rice at all. My GT is completely stock other than not having a CAT, and it sounds way meaner than my Stealth. Has an almost V8 rumble to it.

I was gonna say...damn you sure it wasn't a replica with a v6 Firebird engine? Never come across a kit car. Usually those Diablo/Fiero's look pretty convincing. Now the kits for the MR Ferraris, theres a different story. Those are eyesores. The wheelbases are all skewed and mismatched. And there seems to be too much front and rear fascia. I guess there are some good companies though. Lambo is suing a kit car company though. I think www.kitcar.com "Note to Diablo and Countach replicar fans: Lamborghini Diablo replicars, Diablo roadsters and
Lamborghini Countach replicas have been moved to the Lamborghini Replicas For Sale page."

Your first clue should have been that he was burning off his tires. Isn't the Diablo AWD. Or is that just a certain kind of Diablo?

I believe Fiero is a Pontiac car, and they are DIRT cheap. I see them sell all the time for 3-6k. Now the kits on the other hand cost upwards of 20k. Thats just for the parts of course, they require LOTS of time to put together though, and there is almost always the need for some kind of modification\customization. This is especially true if you want to upgrade the engine to a v-8.

I laugh at people who try to immitate the big dogs(labos), but I gotta say some of those cars look pretty damn good.

Everybody check out ebay, they have a McLauren F1 kit car that cost 56,000, and it is frikin bad!!!

thank you guys, there are really amazing, I could never tell the difference, I almoust think in doing one just for fun. We have very good people that do the kit for the cars and very cheap, but the problems is that there is no Fiero's around here!!!!!!!!!

The body kit isn't really jsut a body kit. It requires a lot of hours and work to build. I plan on building on one day!!!!

After its said and done, you would be looking at 30K to complete a Diablo Kit Car, without labor. Or you can just buy one, like the one above for about 60-80K

Screw that just buy a Reproduction Diablo straight from Lamborghini themselves for like 40 grand. At least it looks like a Lambo, and you're driving one, not Pontiacs sorry first excuse at a sport compact. Sure the reproduction engine is not a V12 but at least some are V8's. I would much rather do that since people who buy the kit cars don't install them themselves anyways.
