My car was crunched this morning in a car vs. semi this morning. rack one more up for the crumple zones, the rear of the car absorbed the whole thing @ 50MPH

I will be fine, once I hear from the insurance that it was a total loss... I should have picts to post in the coming days...

Hey Eric,
That is that car# 3 for the Lotter family that hitched an early ride to 3SI heaven? Look at it this way, now you can upgrade to a newer "Jimmy Red Special." Make sure that Eric B. gets those pics as a memorial and testament to the solidity of the 3SI in a crash should your ins decide to total it.

Is anything out of shape? If not, the car will most likely be fixed unless the damage is $10,000+. Let us know what happens.

Well another one bites the dust. We were trying to avoid losing a 3rd 3S in three years but I geuss the sacrificial Sidekick in the spring just was not enough. Anyway it was a fun ride home with the secondary exaust fume coming in the car where the passenger side tailight is suppose to be. We will have some pic within a few days.

Dear Eric,
We are thankful to hear that you are all right. Cars can be replaced, people can't.
Sorry about your car though. Eric, remember, they aren't making them anymore so please save some for the rest of us

Well I guess that means that I won't have to bring my extra ash tray Sunday
Hope you didn't have your rims replaced/fixed yet. Are you still coming Sunday? Well I'm real sorry to hear about this but the good think is that your alright, cars can alway be replaced people can't.

Sheesh Lotter! This was one trend that you weren't supposed to keep going! Glad you're a-ok, though!! So hopefully you got some pictures to add to the 3S Crash Site. But while one of your cars was the initial car added, it's not a site that should contain multiple features!

Which one was it? Your VR-4? Hopefully the others are still doing ok. So what are you planning on picking up not to replace that one? Gotta keep the Lotter family fully 3S loaded ya know!

Keep us posted on how things are going. And send me pics when you get em developed.

Thanks everyone for your support.
It was the VR-4.
I am fine, a little more sore today than yesterday, but all of the parts are attached and in working order!

I am waiting to here about how the INsurance Co will handle the damage. I think it is on the edge. An Eyeball estimte, puts it @ 8-10k worth of damge. With the high miles I had on the car, and the fact that a reconstructed car never ever sells for it's retail value, it may be right on the edge.

The frame is slightly bent, (Visible in that the driver's side door gap between the door and the car's body is 1.5cm wider than the passenger side)

I'll be getting some pics in the next day or two.

Yes, I will replace it with another 3S, I am eyeing a 91 RT/TT.

For those who remember, The best, car I ever owned was a 92 RT/TT Emerald Green, lost to the trees, one cool night in October, 1997.

Thanks lorne. I will be driving the rental up to the casino, it fits a couple of extra bodies in it :)

I was on rt 3 north, 1 mile from exit 14 in Rockland.

Oh No Eric! That's terrible!

I suggest getting a rabbit's foot as a
rear-view mirror ornament. Talk about
bad luck. All we can hope is you get a
good settlement and just continue on
with the purchasing. Don't let the
curse get to ya. Grab another 3S and
get RIGHT back on that road again!!

I should have my little accident pics posted
as well by this weekend.

Good luck. Hope you're feeling well.

OUCH! Sorry to hear man! Everybody else has pretty much summed up what I was going to say - but as long as you're still here to talk about it, it's all good. Just gives you one more thing to talk about at gatherings!

Take care man,

OUCH! How'd that happen?
I know the Rockland area pretty well, and can suggest a body shop if you need one (Cobb's on W.Water St.)
Glad you're still in one piece!

Eric,
Maybe you should write a letter to Mitsubishi to tell them of your loyalty to 3SI cars. I believe the Lotters have gone through something like 4 3SI cars in the last 4 years??? Maybe this will get you a new 3SI courtesy of Mitsubishi. I mean a guy who bought the first minivan that was made by Chrysler got a the 8 millionth minivan for free. Here is the link: http://www.car-truck.com/chryed/news/n112599.htm

Maybe you can get the same treatment.

Eric,
Hate it about your car. I had my Lincoln taken out by a Semi at 3:00 PM yesterday, must have been something about that day. Guy was insane and totalled the entire side of my car and fused its door to the body. It is now 6" flatter on the drivers side, and the front and rear wheels and axles are bent at 45 degrees. Nothing like a trailer crushing your car and then running over your hood.
Glad you are OK.
